davehart
I managed to get a cheap Japspeed system last year to replace my old system as it kept knocking on the rear axle. The Japspeed system does the same thing but worse, I don't know if its because they are poorly made but there are a few Starlets out there with this system so they can't fit that bad? It's on the rear section with the backbox, the loop over the rear axle just knocks on the frame with the slightest wobble. Bloody annoying! It's been off the road for a year and a bit and just got fresh MOT on it today so I had not a chance to road test it before today.Anyone had issues with these systems on EP82's and made a solution for it?Just need to tax it Monday and we have another EP back on the road
morgey
Wrap some heat wrap around it will make more of a thud that and clang that way lol
turbo Grant
Get the cable ties out and use them to adjust the position it sit in. Don't put them on the exhaust tho haha. Wrap them round the rubbers and you can put some rubber hose inside the rubber hangers to stiffen them up. That's what I done on my GT. but when it was wet it still banged a little. It bugged me so much once, I stopped the car in the rain and crawled under it to put some more ties on lol if you don't want too use cable ties you will need to get it tweaked with some gas
DavidAshton
Heat wrap as suggested, mine is an EP91 system and did the same, this sorted if for a while, then it stated hitting the rear beam so that's wrapped up too now!
davehart
Knocks and rattles just get on my tits, especially with the state of the roads around here.Might try the trusty cable tie approach or see about taking it to a specialist to modify it so its fits better. kbond
I have this exhaust and ive done the same as above cable ties on the rubbers to stiffen it up and some heat wrap and now I dont here anything
Foggy
I had the same problem on my ep82. Few slaps of the hammer cured it.
Liam_D
My Buddyclub knocks too. Ive wedged more rubber between the rubbers and cable tied them up too!
Amjad
Duct tape fixes anything hahaI first heat wrapped the exhaust then duct taped some cushioning stuff to the axle, it's been fine for a few thousand miles Inc being on track and the exhaust temps getting very high! steve-gers
I bought powerflex engine mounts and put cable ties round them. Totally cured it.
rmsnoel
you can try the round shaped rubber or poly exhaust hangers instead of the oval shape. hole centres are closer together and give it that little lift. I also bend.the front and maybe rear hangers using the ring of a spanner. dont use a hammer. It wouldnt be a starlet if the exhaust didnt bang.. davehart
I've sorted the rattle. One very strong industrial cable tie on the inner hanger mount to hold it up a bit stiffer has done the trick! Maybe Japspeed should pack cable ties into their systems in the future
Driver
For some reason UKSO won't let me quote your 1st post Davehart but to quote 2 words in there "Cheap" and "Japspeed" There is your problems. 1, cheap.Buy cheap, buy twice. We all know this to be true. 2, Japspeed.Well that one just answers itself !
