steve-gers
Its an awesome price even if it needs a rebuild still worth it. I sold my old toytuning for £200 when I went TD04 was a good turbo though, nice hybrid.
steve-gers
You can buy rebulid kits for £60-80 and if you have a decent level of mechanical knowledge then its easy enough to do yourself, plenty of video guides on youtube.
Glanza-Ben
I can rebuild it at work as few work mates have offered to do it I just need to source the parts will the seals and bearings etc be stock ct9 parts?
Glanza-Ben
I've only had jap a few months as was big into the vw scene and am a vw tech apprentice so am capable of anything mechanical wise with some advice
steve-gers
Not if its toytuning as they have 360 degree bearings but shouldn't need a rebuild if shaft play is minimal.
Glanza-Ben
Well I will take it to work clean it up have a proper look at it then if it needs a rebuild will source the parts
WallaceGlanza
Just to be pedantic it's a hi flow not a hybrid. Look like the exhaust impellor has cut back fins... slightly. Measure the intake too and see if it is a larger compressor wheel.
Amjad
Turbodave is an old Welsh member from UKSC, he made 250bhp on a hybrid of his!!
russ78
I was thinking as well its probably hi-flow so completely stock housing etc
Glanza-Ben
So being a high flow means its not worth rebuilding or is it still?
russ78
the original toytuning hybrids were hi-flow, turbo dynamics make hi-flow turbos also,it all depends how bad the shaft play is if it moves enough to touch the sides of the housing it will defo need rebuilding before you use it but if its minimal movement I wouldn't bother chances are youll change plans a year or two down the roadall depends on your plans buddy

Liam_D
Yep, that's a different comp wheel to a normal ct9 it looks like the shaft blades have been cut back to improve flow too.
corofin12345
its defo a hybrid... different comp wheel, cut back blades on exhaust wheel and ported wastegate.. looks like an early fensport hybrid... they always cut back the blades on the exhaust wheel
