Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Yet another problem lol. Started to missfire when on boost? No idea why. Got nkg leads and iridium plugs. I've never changed the plugs or leads since i've had the car. Pretty bad of me i know! All plugs are on, why is it missfiring when boost comes on? On idle and other driving it's perfect as always, only when boost hits it starts spluttering. Quote
james@cjperformance Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 change your plugs for a start, ebay is best i find for iridiums, then go from there, will more than likely be ignition related Quote
Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Have u checked the jiggle pin lol wtf is a jiggle pin loool.? Quote
turbo Grant Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Check your gaps on your plugs but a new set would be a good idea Quote
Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Ok, what is the gap supposed to be?? Also i have these brand new plugs i bought when i got the car but never put them in, they are ngk BKR5EYA... I never put them in, i just cleaned up the iridiums as i thought they will be better. But will they be ok to use? Like, will they be sufficient enough for the engine etc? Quote
JayJ Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) Those are too hot plugs and you will get the missfire a bit earlier, so better to get new BKR7 iridiums or equivalent and 0.8 for gap. Edited March 2, 2013 by JayJ Quote
Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Darn nabbit . what is the gap supposed to be anyway, so i can check. Quote
Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Osuuuum! Ok so, just incase it's not the plugs and they are fine...... What else should i be looking for? Quote
daniel_g Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 If its not the plugs then check the leads, distributor cap, rotor arm and check the ignition timing too. Quote
Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 What am i checking them for lol? What am i supposed to be looking out for? The king lead is like 2 weeks old, and was brand new so i don't think it will be that! Why would the ignition timing have gone out? Quote
JayJ Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Check that the leads aren't loose, check THIS, so you can compare the condition of rotor arm and distributor cap.Timing can change, if your distributor bolts are loose and the position has changed. Quote
Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Checked all the leads were fully pushed on and they are. Will also check bolts, i just read about nipping up the bolts. Cheers will check out the link now. Quote
Beastmode panda Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 holy shit, im taking off my dizzy cap etc today!!! Quote

Mostyn Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 @Jay85 it's spluttering like hell only in boost runs perfect out of boost, running a td04 external gate changed dizzy cap and rotor arm, plugs, turbo, king lead, ignitor really doing my head it Quote
Jay85 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 (edited) Check your king lead, this is the Center lead that goes from dizzy to coil. It’s quite possible this is fooked and is breaking down under load. Edited July 2, 2018 by Jay85 Quote
