turbo mesh or induction kit relocated

after reading up that i could just mesh the turbo it seems a good idea but which is the better option?

I've had both and would say relocation is better and safer.

There is 2 main differences

relocation- nice clean filtered air going into the engine

Mesh- stops bricks getting sucked in but lets dust, grit and other stuff in that then mixes with oil and fuel and turns into grinding paste inside your engine, good for cars that dont get used on public roads much and on drag strips and for some one that likes rebuilding engines.

This is my opinion others may not agree.

dont think il be meshing it then lol going td04 soon so gonna do everything all at once in a weekend, front mount kit, ebc, manifold and decat etc

In my opinion of runnin both no not a massive difference but there is a large difference in noise at spool up with mesh in my opinion

Hay mate I agree always had chatter on all my turbo set ups tried a dump valve once lasted two days then went back to chatter lol

I had my DV hooked up for a week then went to chatter. It's a much better sound I think!

Used mesh from day one on my TD04, year later at 1.4bar the turbo is good, and the engine is also good (just had it to bits to do valve stem seals)

x2, all the shit gets mixed up and you will severly reduce the service life of your engine. Think of how the piston rings are going to be when theres grinding paste entering the cylinders. Not to mention if any grit gets past the seals in the turbo it will make mince meat of the bearings.

get a filter on there, i know id prefer to protect my turbo and engine over a wee bit of extra noise.

Filters are better in my opinion as said i would rather protect my turbo.

NOTHING, because im psycho and too lazy to fit my relocation saying that ive run it with nothing for a few months now, 75 miles a day and its fine xD

£10 from ebay, Thats what i use.

Many people used to moan that they lost power from putting a filter on due to restriction, but now days filters are so advanced you barely lose any horsepower, like 1-2hp due to restriction. Its a safe price to pay.
