Amjad
Does anyone know where I can get my rear calipers rebuilt if I were to send them off? Not really aware of anyone local who can do it at a good price! Looking for a full rebuild and paint. Thanks Amjad
H_D
Its pretty easy to do it your self once you have them off the car. You can get a rebuild kit from camskill and brake caliper paint from halfords.
Amjad
I don't really have the time to be honest, I'd rather just send them off!
daniel_g
Literally any garage would be able to rebuild them mate. Prob have to paint them yourself but.
Amjad
Ah I see, I wanted to ask on here because I'd rather send them off to somebody that someone on here has used. Just so I know they'll do a good job and are reliable
morgey
I rebuilt mine myself, typically had seized solid only to realise after stripping them and rebuilding them completely, that the sliders were just binding in the rubber gaitors! Been to slack to try some different greases and oils to see if any of them dont seize! But at least i know they are good apart from that lol
turbo Grant
I done the ones on my old GT best off getting a seal kit and new pistons so that's about £150 for parts. You could take them to an auto factors like kimber friction in Southampton, specialise in brakes. They would come back looking brand new and would be zink plated

I'll see what that place says, thanks! Jamie1st got his fully rebuilt and painted for £80 and tbh I'd be happy at that price, gonna call up the place he went to when I get a chance and see what they say!But if anyone else knows places let me know! turbo Grant
A referb place will be cheaper than toyota parts + fitting as they are all geared up to replate pistons and have a loads of seals instock
Amjad
Yeah defo that's probably where I'll end up taking them, just a matter of who gives the best price

Starbuck
Big red in Worcester.
Flaminsam
Agreed with starbuck. Big red are good for caliper rebuilds and they sell kits too. But to be honest they are pretty simple to rebuild. A lil fiddly but simple enough.
Amjad
Thanks guys, when I want it done I'll get someone else to to be honest. Don't have time for stuff like this nowadays
The Toffinator
Sorry amjad i didnt, Piece of piss all you need to do is remove the piston with a windback tool, remove the clip holding the seal in, then give the inside a good clean and grease, dress the piston up a bit if needed, the rest of the seals just pop out on the sliders etcDoesnt take long at all! Nothing sinister it honestly just screws in and out on a rod lol
Amjad
Oh I see..may give it a go when I have time then, thanks! Speaking of rewind tool, does anyone have a link? Need to order one so I can get my replacement used calipers fitted!
daniel_g
Just something like this is Amjad. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-NEW-BRAKE-CALIPER-PISTON-REWIND-WIND-BACK-TOOL-KIT-22-34-PIECES-SET-/360643337387?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item53f8049cab
Amjad
Don't suppose you know which specific socket would fit? As they sell the same style tool with just one attachment. I would only use it on the GT so the kit would kinda go to waste
daniel_g
I dont actually know off hand, but i'll have my brakes stripped down in the next few days so i'll try and find the correct one
Amjad
That's alright dude, I might go to a mechanic tomorrow to just get them to wind mine in for now so I can get them on!
