rinseep82 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Tell me about it can't be the stem seals because there's just way to much oil to be that the only thing I can think of is the exhaust turbo seals Quote
russ78 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I was just gonna say exhaust side turbo seals, if it is it will be smoking like cheech & chong mate Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 It is smoking mate just started doing it getting worse over past 2 days iev only just fitted that turbo tho come from a lad on here said it worked fine on his so fuck nose Quote
shorty Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Thats a lot of oil collecting there dude hope its a simple/cheap fix. Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 I kno it is dude me too anybody else got any ideas or seen this?? Quote
ste91 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 If it's smoking then it's possibly the turbo oil seals which means you need a new turbo or a rebuild. Not a huge problem if you're running a CT9 or TD04, as they can be bought quite cheaply so if that's the case then it's just a straight swap for new turbo. Have you checked the turbo for play? Take the inlet pipe off and wiggle the shaft, it'll more than likely move a bit. Although if you've only just fitted it then it could be a feed/drain problem, if the oil somehow isn't getting away then it's building up and pushing it's way past the seals. Check for play in the turbo and check the feed/drain pipes. Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 I checked the turbo for play before I fitted it there is some wobble in there but it's only minor and what ct9 now a days dunt have play and if it was a feed problem it would have done it sooner than now the turbo has been on over 4 days now and it was fine for the first day or two just slowly got worse Quote
Liam_D Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I would also place my money on turbo oil seals. Quote
turbo Grant Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I'd say the turbo, see one a but like it on an rx7 the other day Quote
yaristurbo Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 whip down pipe off housing will be full of it i guess, stem oil seal would leaking would burn in clyinder surely Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Yea that's what I thaught and I can remember now starting the car up ages ago when I first built it with a turbo I put on and it didn't smoke at all but that turbo wasent boosting so had to take it off Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Must be the turbo then 70 quid down the shitter lol but that's what you get with second Hand parts I suppose Quote
yaristurbo Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 it could happen with a new one too tho luck of the draw think liam d does good service Quote
Liam_D Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 it could happen with a new one too tho luck of the draw think liam d does good serviceThanks for putting my name out there! Yeah I offer a turbo rebuilding service if you need a hand with it. Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 thats my old one? It didnt have a single problem when i ran it and you even said to me it was fine once youd fitted and ran it? maybe it was just on its way out, but obviously no way of telling that by looking at it sorry to see that man, £30 for a rebuild kit though am i correct? Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 It was fine for the first day then started smoking a little on warm up so just thaught it was burning out the exhaust from previous turbo then to find this like 3 days in and it's either get it re built or buy another and it's 180 quid to get re built but if I buy another second hand one it could just blow again so at min it's sat on drive Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) well Im sorry to hear that :/ I dont get it, how many turbos have you now gone through? sure youre not doing something else wrong? EPnick22 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 have a litte read through that link, it might be something non turbo related Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Iev built that engine from scratch mate so I kno it should be sound the only thing I don't k I of is the valve stem seals but it wouldn't be that much oil and all the rings are fine compression test was good Quote
rinseep82 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Did that turbo come of your engine that the pistons were fucked in?? Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 yeah it was, but it wasnt smoking even then, oil my oil came out through the breather on the rocker Quote
