Sly's Honda Odyssey 4WD vtec jap wagon !

Recommended Posts

Alright lads and lasses for those of you that don't know me (as I've toned it down for the last year or so to save some dollar), I've owned a vtec turbo Civic, Starlet GT turbo and EP85 in the past.

My new project is a 1999 Honda Odyssey.

Origin: Japland

Engine: 2.3 ltr SOHC vtec

Transmission: Auto (column shifter)

Drivetrain: 4WD

Exterior: Pearl white, optional extra side skirts and valances, Erhabenheit Zauber multi-spoke alloys, rear privacy glass, wind deflectors and import plates.

Many mods to come! - EliteMilk and rinseep82 have already begun as I'm working away.. Feel free to post comments :)

I'd upload pics but my phone's being gash! Apologies for now...

Sly

More phots of the Ody..

Engine bay:

A shite load of degreaser and a bit of effort will get the engine bay pearling again.

Could hear gases escaping from around the mani so the heat shield had to come off and we found the mani was cracked.

Interior phots:

We knew that both the discs and pads had to be replaced all round so that was the first job. However, just getting the alloys off took longer than anticipated as the centre cops were totally corroded on:

The discs were scored and there was no meat on the pads:

We also decided to change the shoes while we were at it:

Arches could do with some protection especially as the crap weather is on its way:

UPDATE!

What started out a simple task of changing the discs, pads and shoes ended up being an absolute epic with wheel nuts being ground off and rear calipers also needing to be replaced, as the pads were totally bare which resulted in the caliper pistons being completely seized.

New discs on:

Slapped some Hammerite on the arches:

UPDATE !

So the front offside wheel was corroded to fuck and the shite wheel nuts that were fitted rounded off at every opportunity.

WD-40 and heat didn't seem to do us any favours either so the only option left was to cut 'em clean off.

This not only damaged the alloy but meant a new hub was needed also.

image_zps7efc2296.jpg

Considering the Ody needed two rear calipers, a front hub and indicator cluster, a new tailgate due to rust under the rear glass and some bits of trim I decided to slap a cheeky bid on this one and drove it back to Sheffield all the way from Southampton that night. Luckily I'd been working down south anyhow:

1996 Honda Odyssey.
Origin: Japland
Engine: 2.2 ltr non-vtec
Transmission: Auto (column shifter)
Drivetrain: Front Wheel Drive
Exterior: optional extra side skirts and valances, standard Honda alloys, rear privacy glass, wind deflectors and import plates.

I also managed to pick up some side skirts and a rear valance:
