PureRage
was having some problems with the hood locking mechanism lately and the hood didn't line up right the right corner always stood up a bit and never could figure out why.also, the support that holds it in place was preventing me from fitting the intercooler nice and flush against the beam behind it so i wanted it out off the way. the simple sollution was fitting cheesy hood pins. not everyone's cup of tea but this is a pure function over form mod for me it was quite hard to line everything up correctly and then that awkward moment of putting a drill through the hood and cutting massive holes in it... results:

PureRage
Right, let's blow some dust off this topic Have been tinkering with the car (as usual) last march i was at the drags and i encountered a few minor problems. she was smoking blue, likely causes were valve seals. she was leaking a bit of oil around the crank seal on the box side. meaning i would have to take off the gearbox.and i wanted to swap out the engine loom as it had been hacked and slashed multiple times over the years for various mods and it was giving me all sorts of grief. so, let's take her apart again en yes... it failed engine out and yup, seals...i'll never buy imitation crap again! prepped the shop for engine surgery bought a few new goodies oem seals! strip it! and yups, she used oil cleaned head dismanteled and yup... crappy seals... meh fiddely work to put it all back together again new crank seal nearly rebuilt wires.... added the oil cooler mostly back together again coolant bottle, because racecar running again last bits to button up and at the track 2 days after the rebuild did about 15 oval laps and 60 drags, held together quite well pleased with the results replaced the rear wing
PureRage
removed all the broken and crappy smoked gauges and replaced them with clear white ones with peak warning.glad to have working info on the engine again didn't feel good to race around not knowing oil temp/pressure etc. lights on:

PureRage
Last weekend we had a dragweekend for the dutch drags championship.dragracing is still rather small in the netherlands so we are racing on an airfield. Hope we will onde day have a dedicated dragstrip near here. Had great fun at the strip though! Arrived at the strip on friday night. set up our caravan and prepped the car Saterday morning was tech inspection time. passed with flying colors and i parked her at the starting grid wich was still a little bit empty our neighbor, a v8 wakeup call works rly rly well and more big toys v8 escort! epic thing! 1000hp quatro anyone? all great stuff but not the class i was driving in. me and the missis were running in the DSL class. meaning 15 seconds and over. The car ran quite a bit faster than 15 seconds but coulden;t reach the 14 yet. so decided to stick with out class and run her smoothly to just hit 15 sec. after saturdays qualifying me and my wife were just 0.001 seconds apart! we placed 3rd and 4th in our class and the top 8 went on for the elimination races. as me and my wife drive the same car this could pose a problem if we were to race against eachother. but that didn't happen so all was fine. I failed in the semi finals and ended up on 3rd place.my wife did better and ended up in the finals. Unfortunatly she had a misshift into second gear and lost so ended up with 2nd place. My wife in the final: not bad if i do say so myself
PureRage
also bought a set of lightweight lenso's will be ideal for my r888 setup for trackuse
PureRage
forgot to update this.a while ago we had another drag day and me and my wife did well again my wife took the first prize, there was no way for me to beat her time. we have to run 15 seconds and over, she put down a 15.001 and i placed 2nd with a 15.034this puts us at the first and second place of this years dutch championship for our class also just bought a gopro cam and tried it out for the first time at the track.need to fix the wind noise though. the first run with the gopro on the dash was my wife's winning run. the car should almost be rdy to run 14 seconds flat so we can move up a class but then we would lose the current championship points. so we'll hold off till next year and try to stay in the 15 seconds class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6gIidY_18k&list=UUCCc-qKSO3vuL1n4vgm06HQ
PureRage
car made some very wrong noises a while back. turned out to be this: Rebuilt the blown turbo after getting some parts exhaust side after removing from the turbo. still no idea what caused it. engine has good compression. no visible damage in the cylinders. i'm at a loss to what happened. still had some spare parts of old broken ct9 turbo's so i happened to have a spare shaft with exhaust fanlet's rebuild! all done!previous turbo was blue so decided this one should be red (so i can tell them apart later) back in the car and we power on till something else breaks on the strip
Liam_D
That's failed due to overspeed mate, bascially something has made the turbo work to hard, usually caused by faulty intercooler and all pipework, any boost control systems, ecu faults or faulty remaps. PureRage
been hearing that on other sites aswell.i've been having some issues with boostcreep. getting up to 1.13 barthink i'll fix one up and enlarge the wastegate a bit
jimmymac101
That's failed due to overspeed mate, bascially something has made the turbo work to hard, usually caused by faulty intercooler and all pipework, any boost control systems, ecu faults or faulty remaps. This man is the one to listen to mate he's a turbo guru James
PureRage
the only thing i can think of is that it ran too much boost.intercooler is fine, pipeworks is good. ecu is stock, map is stock. just running safc to tweak the fuel. car is running very well apart from the turbo fail
