Turbo Goose
Dont understand how it could cause damage tbh

pick1
been running no air filter and no dump or recirc valve for 3 years now with no issues.I'm the same as this
MARC MOSS
Dont understand how it could cause damage tbhCt9's don't like compressor surge I destroyed a standard and speedvision running no dv.td series are strong enough to handle it
Dean_mc88
im running mine on no dv etc on a speedvision , 3 days going strong hahaha
richardc9052
Ct9's don't like compressor surge I destroyed a standard and speedvision running no dv.td series are strong enough to handle itIn what way did you destroy them?
kavan-k
This sounds bizarre! Does it blow the turbo in shite? Or wreck the shaft etc..?
Dean_mc88
from what I have heard it just cuts down the turbo's life span , by how much I don't know and ive never seen it proven. so it will only be shaft play, im assuming, don't think it will blow the turbo up Edited June 23, 2014 by Dean_mc88
MARC MOSS
The bearings in the shaft were pretty much destroyed and the comp wheel on both started grinding away the housing as well.
Coxxy_94GT
How long were you using it whilst it was chattering before that happened ?
MARC MOSS
It never blew the turbo just fucked it, the force induced on the compressor wheel and shaft as all of that compressed air is forced back through it spinning it the opposite way must be immense ..I ran with a gauze as well it sounded incredible
richardc9052
it never spins it the other way, it just slows it down
MARC MOSS
It stalls it trying to spin it backwards sorry my typo
Coxxy_94GT
How long were you using it until that happened ?
MARC MOSS
Think about it though, the turbine is still trying to spin the turbo whilst at the other end the comp wheel is having airforces back through it at the same time, no wonder it killed mine
MARC MOSS
My speed vision lasted a couple of thousand and the standard even less but I was permanently making it chatter lol I loved itJust do it lol you know you want to. Turbos are cheap and easy to change anyway
Coxxy_94GT
Oh fucking hell didnt think it would be that bad
aidanep71
It isn't that bad.. who's to know that the turbos might not already have been faulty. I ran my 20 odd year old ct12 with no dv for 100k and It never went. Now I'm running the ct15 on the 1j and that's ceramic
Turbo Goose
Still dont get it, the compressor blades spin like made with masses of air passing through them so why would it cause damage from air passing the other way Edited June 23, 2014 by Haresign
morgey
It's the fact that it's still trying to spin forward. The exhaust side is still trying to spin it forward but the throttle being shut of with no pressure release is trying to stop the compressor side to release the compressed air. You've got a relatively small bar with 2 opposite forces acting upon them in a manner it's not designed for.Thinking about it surely it would be stalling the exhaust gasses from leaving the engine too? That could also have negative effects on the engine? Edited June 23, 2014 by morgey
Liam_D
been running no air filter and no dump or recirc valve for 3 years now with no issues.Amen!
Coxxy_94GT
Has anyone been runnin a ct9 and chattering for a period of time with no problems ?
Liam_D
I ran mine ct9 for around a year and half with chatter and it was fine. Turbo was still as mint as when I put it on when I removed it too.
