aha fair enough, I've heard about doing that, think it helps it rev faster or something? someone will correct me if im wrong :)

Belive so matey just focused on getting it dyno'd atm!

Advancing makes top end power better, retarding gives more torque lower in the revs. within certain parameters, basically a trade off for what you want

How hard was it to fit the Corolla mani? I'm pretty compitant but just wondered if there are any 'need to knows'? Heard there's a bit of hose that isn't long enough or something. Managed to bag myself an inlet tonight on eBay.

Also, I know this sounds daft but mine felt really 'laggy' (I know that's really a term for turbos) so I had a poke around and found my throttle cable was pretty slack. After adjusting it the car felt so much more responsive it was worlds apart. Worth checking on these older cars.

Pretty easy just need one hose i believe it's the one on the back of the inlet as the stock one didn't reach bottom two bolts are a bitch to get though!

yes you'll need about a 300mm length of vacuum hose for off the back, to the idle control valve. i had to get a mechanic mate to bring his special wobbly sockets down to undo the bottom bolts on the stock inlet. absolute biatch to undo.

Haha I did swapped mine about 2 weeks ago and it took longer than I remember 😂

I think I remember that the throttle cable securing point is different. Some big washers should do the trick. I could be wrong but I remember doing something similar.

I got the hose for mine from scrapyard, picked a handful of shapes and sizes and one fitted, think Suzuki swift vac tube is what I used. I kept the standard Rolla throttle cable holder and used that

May as well do the gasket while you've got it apart bit of peace of mind and just in case the old gasket breaks your not stuck or put it back together and it leak

Anyone got a part number for the gasket? Seems a bit of a mine field as I'm searching

Try this one mate. Don't hold me to it. Just had a quick look. 17177-11070

The problem I've got is: are the starlet and Corolla gaskets the same? If yes then I'll just order through Toyota but if not I've got to find the reg of a Corolla with that mani fitted and order it that way
