Lee a kada
Hi allNew to the forum and yes the title of this thread is correct. I've been the owner of a 1986 Starlet DX since 1990. Only trouble is that I put it in the garage in 1997 and it has never moved since then! I'm thinking that I might start to restore it as I'm looking for a new hobby. I managed to find the key the other day so at least that's a start!Great forum and I'm looking forward to learning lotsCheers

Lee a kada
Thanks for the welcome.Have to admit the car is in a bit of a state. Will try and gets some pics uploaded although it's in a garage with no power so maybe next weekend before this happens.Car has a 4 speed gearbox, manual choke and if I remember correctly it ran on 4 star fuel. Never, ever let me down even in the depths of winter. That's part of the reason why I couldn't bear to part with it. It used to require a certain technique to start on a morning. Choke out full, depress the accelerator twice and as soon as it fired push the choke in halfway. Happy days! Edited November 9, 2014 by Lee a kada
Dingo Del
Hey ... Nice one Should be good on fuel too ! and being stored heaps less chance of being a Flintstones car ! Pic's

Lee a kada
HiI have decided not to restore the car. Too much work unfortunately. So the time has come to send it to the scrap yard as the space is needed.I may shed a tear when the car goes!
mart1
scrap yard, you can't do that, someone will buy it.
Lee a kada
I'm not after any money for it. Have been researching websites such as giveacar.com. Apparently they will take it away, dispose of it and donate any profit to the charity of my choice. However, if someone from this forum wants it, then no problem. They can have it, write me a cheque for what they think it's worth and make the cheque payable to the charity of my choice which would be the Sheffield Cats Shelter. Obviously a trailer will be needed to take it away and it is in a state but maybe some parts are usable. Car is in S10. Key is available and it has been sorned since 1997.Regards to all

aaddzz123
If I had space I would take it right away. I'd love an older project. What exactly is wrong with it? Must be pretty vital to decide to get rid after 24 years?
Lee a kada
Thanks Mart. Dogs have masters, cats have slaves😀The charity will benefit no matter what

Must be pretty vital to decide to get rid after 24 years? No idea what's wrong with it apart from the fact it is rusting! When I reversed it into the garage it was running fine, was MOTd at the time etc. it's not been started in 24 years but I left it with the handbrake off and out of gear so it should roll out of the garage without a problem. The car is in a garage next to my house. The garage is going to be demolished and then rebuilt where it will create more garden space. Hence time to move the Starlet. No idea what it's worth. Might only be 100 quid but whatever it is I want a creature less fortunate than myself to benefit.
mart1
Might be best for you to put it on the for sale section, you will need to be a full member though to advertise it, don't think it costs much to be a full member :-) but after me saying that you would have to state a price. Wasn't planning on advertising it. I'll give it a few days to see if anyone contacts me. If not I'll let one of these disposal companies take it and give any profit to the charity.
