Bluebear
It's.. er... interesting! Not the sort of clutch you can slip at low revs to creep forward in traffic, that's for sure. Brilliant to use when making progress though. A lot more force is needed to depress the pedal compared to the Spec.
kevmcc90
Ah I see mate. Well thanks for the info and I'll update this once I've tried old clutch.
kevmcc90
I'm in process of fitting old clutch to see how that goes. Here is picture of new clutch let me know if you think it looks OK from pictures
kevmcc90
Put old clutch in this afternoon and no difference. I did notice when sitting at idle and try to go into third the car starts to move forward as if it's engaging gear, so if this is not the clutch or slave cylinder. Does that mean it could possibly be master cylinder as I'd seen tgtt an old thread that UK as a similar issues?
kevmcc90
Any thoughts?

JayJ
Is the fork ok and not bend?
kevmcc90
It seems OK mate
kevmcc90
Right update again. Changed the master cylinder today for the clutch and it still has the same issue looking like only other option is gearbox needing rebuilt
WallaceGlanza
It really sounds like a clutch issue especially when you say it's engaging when sitting still, where is the bite point on the pedal? Have you tried simply adjusting that at the pedal see if it makes a difference? If it was doing it as soon as you fitted the box it must be something else but you really do seem to have tried everything!
kevmcc90
Yeah we tried to adjust the clutch pedal but still seems the same, it's just mad how it's only in third gear? But if u put it into forth first then third it goes in fine... Really starting to get on my nerves now
Bluebear
Wallace, my issues became prevalent when a Corolla 5-speed I got was fitted (as fifth on my GT box shit itself). I'm just wondering if its something like syncs in the box.Half tempted to strip down my GT box and replace whatever needs to be done to 5th as that's the most accessible. WallaceGlanza
I guess it could be... the reason I'm so interested is because this box was in my car not long ago - not for long at all but I didn't have any selection issues with it in the short time.
kevmcc90
Well I think my next move will be to get the box rebuilt and take it from there. I will let you all know how it goes. Thanks for all the info and advice.
kevmcc90
Right update on this, under guidance from Mike at tuning developments I tried putting my old flywheel on. The new one I had fitted one a lightweight one and seemed to be slightly thicker than the one I removed. After doing this it seems to have solved the issue. I've also put uprated engine mounts on so this may also of helped it?
WallaceGlanza
How random! But knew it had to be something other than the gearbox. Mounts may have helped, poly ones do improve the gear change. Glad it's sorted.
kevmcc90
Yeah it's taken a lot of mucking around but now every part of hydraulic system is new haha
