Anyone on here made a pickup from a car?

Recommended Posts

Got a mate who's made a nova saloon pick up. He's no welder though and it never saw the road again... looked cool though!

I cant weld either, well apart from the odd exhaust bracket but notthing structural!

Always liked the idea of it. Theres a micra the goes to the big jap shows and i think it looks pretty decent for a small car.

Think i might have seen that at Japfest a couple year ago!

Starbuck did a pohotoshop of one once. im sure they were considering it with Taggys shell

Was thinking a 5dr would look better but duno if micra lads use 3dr or not?

One above looks pretty sweet... for a micra!

Theres an old pic kicking about somewhere of a blue ep82 pickup from abroad. Doesnt look great if im honest.

Do you have some pics? Be cool to see

I will get some this weekend when im at the workshop.

its not designed to be a work of art like some in this thread it is only going to be used to transport scrap and engines back and forth from customers/traders etc

That micrap i posted looks to be a three door

Know the guy who built it. Its got a ca18det and running over 400bhp now.

One issues with converting a car to a pickup is you can never use it as a pickup because with all the new laws which came in a few years ago you need to put the car through loads of tests to see what the safe working load of the car is which costs alot of money to do so. A way around this is to just spaceframe the whole rear end so you cant store anything in back. You then just need an engineers report to make sure the car is still safe.

Thats how that micra was done. Abit pointless making a pickup you cant use but its the cheapest and easiest way.

Just the way to make it fully legal mate :). Not that police or vosa even bother checking. Mates e30 pick was on the road for 5 years when he had it. Sold it on and no idea where it is now.
