whole car went dead suddenly, everything going one second and not the next. No lights or power anywhere, engine sounded like it was still going but that was just because it was in gear. when i messed about with it for a bit with a jump pack i managed to get it going for about 2/300meters of sluggish unhappy car before it went dead for good. got towed to work though sheer chance and replaced its alternator and battery a week later. battery wasnt completely gone, but it wasnt holding charge particularly well so i swapped it out too.

yeah, it was the alternator, possibly the built in voltage regulator i think. swapped it out for a newer alternator i was told came off a uk car, plugged in and runs well, perfect running voltage!

this is a tempting offer, does it all connect straight up to the standard hoses?

i bought a 5efhe engine that was only missing these for 300 square, but if youre holding out i cant offer more.

phh bawls to that, i got quoted 260 odd for a new alternator, no way that was happening. get yourself a second hand jobbie, they might even be the same as the uk spec 4efe igniters, though dont quote me on that, im no professional leccy

the wires that connect the ignition system together, particularly ones that come close to heat sources or are in areas that make them likely to be susceptible to corrosion. its probably something small, though mine turned out to be my king lead, a knackered connection and my alternator.

king leads are always going wrong, if you have some scrap wire you can make a temp one to see if it is the king lead. they can be intermittent though, appearing to work when you test it but not when its on the car.

i just sorted this problem, youll have to follow the lead all over the place and try and isolate a faulty wire with a multimeter bud. grounds are also something to pay extra attention to.

with effort to make it compact, its feasible to have the proposed quiet/loud down pipe going into a side exit. How do you seal between the gate and exhaust turbine? I've seen downpipes with it but presumably they don't make the most airtight seal lol. Amjad, i have a home made side exit I'm repairing atm, if your interested in it?

perhaps a silencer on the downpipe? then u could run the screamer past it back onto the system before the flexi section and save the extra weight of a second pipe at the same time.

I have what it came with atm, a full rsr system with the silencer removed. Its waaay too loud lol, kinda feel like an ass sat in traffic or driving round town sounding like a tvr or something but turns out to be a small hatchback. id rather make all noise when I'm going for it some of the time, and go relatively unnoticed the rest. even occasional motorway journeys are bad news, you get to where your going with minor shellshock or something. :L

could have it reconnect with the main exhaust after the silencer, but that would add quite a bit of exhaust piping on and would require flexi section n allsorts

Here's a question I've been musing for some time now, ill be fitting a nice quiet center section soon with a few mufflers n shit in it. if i custom fabricate myself some mad custom down pipe with a screamer coming off the wastegate sectioned off from the turbo's main exhaust output, can i have a quiet car off boost and all der noise when Im on it and the gate is open?
