Next up he's starting to make up the drivers side arch we are using a rust free passenger side wing and adapting it to match as its 70% correct but will still need some fabrication to get perfect but its a good base to start from Joe wants to use as much metal as possible from Toyota stuff and I agree with him although the inner arches will just be fabricated out of what's available with extensive rust proofing

Also the aircon wouldn't hold the gas culprit easily found absolutely shot to bits fortunately @Tombrooker97 offered a replacement on here for a very reasonable price as the part number is the same as a glanza condenser so thats on its way to me

It been a while so went over to see the car and talk to Joe the owner at Jr it's been a rollercoaster year for him with covid taking out staff members etc but I'm willing to wait longer as I want him personally to do mine the panels bumpers etc have all been removed to see what we are really looking at and I'm pleased to report the front end from the rear arches forward is very clean indeed remarkable really and not a single bolt snapped

Thanks burty, how’s your respray coming along?
It goes really well considering I’ve not done any major mods to it, just need to fettle the suspension as it doesn’t fill me with the most confidence on the road yet.
I've had some progress I need to update my thread tbh still not at paint though

I have been busy every night after work trying to get the interior back into shape, I way underestimated how long this would take! The countless hours of washing the interior with a wet and dry hover is unbelievable! I started with the seats but then after some advice stripped out what feels like everything out the interior excluding the dash.
I knew when lifting the carpet something had leaked out in the back as it was stuck to the floor!
All cleaned up and a nice solid floor and behind the quatre panel arches were totally sound with no rust or water ingress as I know this is where it can start.
found a few Yen for my troubles .
I haven't taken many before photos of the roof and that's all I have unfortunately.
I still have a few bits to go over but almost there!
The carpet is what I'm currently working in at the moment and I don't think ts going to be great judging with what's split through it, The fronts coming up not bad! I will add another update once she is back together.
What a transformation
I read the Japanese hid money under the carpets for good fortune/luck or something along those lines could be utter rubbish though

When I had a MR2 I used a autoglym product on the roof specifically for them it was brilliant softened it up and gave a as new look highly recommend that as for the interior PM jase I've seen his GT in person and how the hell he got it that clean inside is beyond me looks like it rolled off the production line
-
I'm absolutely gob smacked by this cool little thing and very jealous best of luck getting it back up and running it's without a doubt the most unique project on here what a result with the canvas top aswell have you tested it for leaks?
-
small update
trav has sorted me out with some decals for the bootlid they are exceptional quality and cant thank him enough
Body shop have made/ shaped new the rear arches out of the front wings ready to be fitted also they found some more rust around the rear slam panel so its getting cut out rather than rustproofing i do have pics but il post them up once the repair work is complete

Cheers Burty, she may end up being a money pit we will see, I need to try and save her, I will keep her as original as possible, shes not been on the road since 2001.
Well worth saving not gonna be cheap (I can vouch first hand 😆) I've never seen one on the road and probably never will
