  1. Check the right grade of oil was used, although it seems like an extreme result even if it is the wrong grade of oil. Unfortunately it could be many things. So it may be a process of elimination, based on the video sound. With the engine off Start with a visual inspection of the engine bay components, any damaged / worn belts, worn bearings in alternator / Power steering pump. Have any vac hoses popped off / split. If the exhaust manifold has a crack it should be visible with black soot showing or a leaking gasket should also be traceable.
  2. Did it happen out of the blue or has it had any work recently?
  3. Thanks Sam. Very interesting read. I have also found Androo's 61 page build thread. Some good content I thought. Innovative use of the TVV location to feed the turbo water lines without the need for the glanza thermo housing. Cheers
  4. Unfortunately drilling and tapping for a screw in drain boss only works for aluminium sumps of a reasonably thickness. Thin steel sumps don't have enough material thickness for the threads and require a different approach. There are bolt through / bolt on solutions available with gaskets. Best to remove sump before drilling as you don't know whats behind it and could drill into something important like a con rod. Or you might place the outlet of the return too close to something choking the flow.
  5. Perfect. Thanks for taking the time to help. It's appreciated. 😎
  6. Thanks mate, was leaning that way myself. Don't suppose you would know if any models of TF035 6cm have the same exhaust flanges as TD04l? If I go TF035 it will have to fit the TD04l mani and downpipe I have. I found this part number posted by 5e Colin - "49135 04700 and upwards" it relates to TF035HM. Hopefully you have some flanges you could compare. Cheers
  7. Hi, Didn't want to start a new thread. So the story goes. I'm collecting parts for a 4efe + t build. I have a TD04l ramhorn manifold and downpipe and got excited and bought a TD04l from eBay. Looking for 150 ish bhp and max rpm of 6k (N/A ecu and piggyback) The pt. no for the turbo is 14412AA560, 49377-04505. Turns out its from an impreza WRX and forester 2.5ltr ej255 around 2006 It has a small crack in the exhaust housing and the compressor wheel has 2 small pieces missing from blade tips and a nick or two in a blade. It will probably need a rebuild but before I sink money
  8. Will do, currently gathering parts so its mostly cleaning up and rust treatment at the mo.
  9. Really interesting build Re: the inlet manifold feeding cylinders unevenly, I read a discussion on a skyline forum about Greddy front inlet manifolds vs the centre entry manifolds found on rb25det. It seems that some cylinders were leaner on the front entry due to plenum shape or distance from the inlet. Would it be possible to mount the standard starlet throttle body on the side face of the starlet manifold (facing the front of the car) to feed the manifold centrally? Might end up feeding the centre cylinders more than the outer two but could be better balanced? Could keep the good
  10. Just wanted to say Hi. Bought a Starlet EP91 97 a couple of months ago. Looking to build a 4efe + t sleeper. Currently amassing parts for the conversion and have plenty of questions to ask! Hope everyone's safe and well. Cheers 🙂👍
