  1. Some university lad had owned it for 4 months but couldn't afford to keep it, he'd just bought it and used it and not done anything with it. The handbrake cable is VERY loose so I think someone's been doing alot of handbrake turns in it.
  2. Yes it's all settled, it wasn't my fault and I didn't lose my NCB or anything. Just to check that it wasn't because of that bump I've done a few online quotes with/without it to see if it made any difference, didn't make any.
  3. Lol cheapest quote on gocompare was 1700. This is taking the piss I am seriously pissed off now, there's no way I'm paying £1700 for a fucking little 1.3, especially when I was paying less last year!
  4. Who's that with? I was with Quinn before but they're gay.
  5. Just been searching around to get car insurance on the new Starlet which is a completely standard 1996 Sportif. I'm 18 with 1 years NCB, was insured on my old Starlet (again a Sportif) for £1500 with mods declared. I've been looking on loads of sites, phoned a few up yesterday, cheapest I've got so far is £1700? Adrian Flux wanted over 2000...
  6. £400, but once you add up the rip-off public transport costs + petrol to get it home it was near £500. 104k miles, 6 months T&T, no major faults apart from brakes are a bit crap, tiny bit of rust on passenger door and that fucking turbo whistler. Plans are to use the wheels off the CRX seeing as they aren't doing anything, shocks & springs, remove bump strips, Corolla inlet manifold, get a spoiler if funds allow, and give it a service. The engine is surprisingly good considering the mileage, still pulls really well.
  7. Yeah it's coming off first thing tomorrow, it was wierd there seemed to be nothing wrong with the car I was thinking hmm there's usually atleast something wrong I wonder what will go wrong with it.... and then it's fucking got one of them on it. Oh well hopefully the fucking thing will be easy to remove because it's fucking coming out ASAP.
  8. Just got back from buying a Starlet, another white Sportif, will get a build topic up soon, it's just going to be a run around until the CRX is on the road, quite happy with it 104k miles on the clock and still pulls really well. The only shit thing is the brakes need doing and giving it some stick on the way home revealed some TWAT has put one of those stupid turbo whistler things on it. Was having a good laugh about it on the way home it's funny but fucking annoying, why do people buy this shit.
  9. That bit about the accent made me laugh lol atleast you're ok, I'd have just turned round and fucked off as soon as I saw a load of pricks in a car park like that, especially on your own!
  10. You could do but if the wastegate on the turbo is ported big enough it should be able to let enough exhaust gas through so that it doesn't creep. Set your actuator to 11-12psi and see what happens. IIRC fuel cut is 12.5psi so it's possible that you could get a little creep on very cold days.
  11. Oh I didn't mean it in a bad way, and that's exactly what I meant, it looks like he's tried to use some sort of translator and it's came out with wrong words or he's used confused. (Tachometer instead of Odometer for example).
  12. He's got a foreign name, I'd guess English isn't his first language and it's just some dodgy confused translation.
  13. What a prick, I'd get something done about that, he's basically ripped you off on purpose because he knows he can do it. I agree with micky though you should have tried doing it yourself, if you're worried about it just do a bit of research on the net first, cars are mostly straightforward nuts and bolts, it's just a matter of knowing what's what.
  14. I agree, some things are stupidly overpriced simply because of the name.
  15. I have driven EP91's with both the 4 spoke and later 3 spoke steering wheels, and the early EP91 4 spoke steering wheel feels alot better. I'd suggest going for one of those if you can't get one off a different model, but all Toyota steering wheels look very very similar (either 3 or 4 spoke, for example the Previa steering wheel is just a larger version of the Starlet 4 spoke, even the Supra has the simple 3 spoke design). Oh and the EP82 GT wheels feel "thinner" than EP91 wheels.
  16. What did you use to get it shiney like that? I've just got back from the garage, fucking pain in the arse, couldn't get the roof lining out to change the sunroof rack because the sun visors are held on by stupid star shaped screws and I didn't have the tools with me, and the inlet manifold looks like it's going to be a right fucker to get off, and people think Starlet ones are awkward!
  17. Thanks again Phil, and no Bean the boot struts actually work lol, I do have a couple of annoying things like the boot and bonnet release cables seem to need pulling a couple of times before they open, and the bonnet sometimes doesn't shut properly, but I'll sort them out.
  18. Love the Glanza, I think I've seen vids of it on youtube, sounds nice. I own a CRX aswell, how would you compare the CRX to the Glanza? And I fucking hate Saxos.
  19. An unmodified Glanza shouldn't have any major problems aslong as they're are properly maintained.
  20. Cheers Phil. This is what I've done this morning, a bit of carb cleaner and half an hour, it's not perfect but certainly alot better than before, check the pic on the bottom of page 1 for how shitty it was:

    Tc Glanza < !

I wouldn't mind if they actually TD04'd it for a purpose, because I can fully understand wanting a less laggy car if it's for everyday use, but he takes the TD06 off and then puts it up for sale not long after? What the fuck was the point in that?

    Tc Glanza < !

Nobody who has bought this car has held onto it for very long! And now some idiot has put a TD04 on it, wonder what they did with the old turbo, sold it for fuck all I expect.
  23. I wouldn't say uncalled for, it's quite true, even if it is a bad stereotype.
