There are a few of these kits for sale on ebay, but the one i chose was by mx5alive, i found the instructions very simple to follow and it is a great addition to the car. I have put mine where the cigarette lighter goes but as long as you have 85mm of free space behind it you can out it anywhere: Here is what was in the kit: Firstly you need to tale apart the dashboard to get to the cigarette lighter area, you do this by removing the piece of material under the handbrake and undoing these 2 screws: Next push in these two retainer clips on the side of the centre console and pull the pastic outwards: You can then pull the gearknob plastic surround out form under the centre console and pull it forward: Next undo the 2 screws on the side of the handbrake housing and pull up to allow enough room to remove the gearknob surround: The area around the cigarette lighter comes off with the lower part of the console, undo the screws at the top to remove it from the console, and tip backwards: At the back of the cigarette lighter, remove this clip and you can remove it from the car: So here is the cigarette lighter without the surround, undo these two screws on both sides to remove the fixing trim: Pull these clips outwards to release the body of the cigarette lighter: You no longer need this connector, so push the bung out and throw it away: You are now left with this, unscrew the brass ring around the top of the lighter to release it from the hole: This removes the fascia panel, the area where the cigarette lighter came from has an inner ring that must be taken out for now, so that you can cut/file the holes into the correct shape: Leaving you something like this: The start button now fits into the hole of the ring: Try it for size when ready, you may wish to use a little superglue to hold it all in place: That is the manual side of the fitting done, you now need to contend with the electronics. Firstly you will need access to the ignition barrel, so undo these three screws: Here is the wiring diagram for the button: With the bottom of the steering wheel taken off, you can get to the wires by the ignition barrel. Firstly hold the button facing away from you with 'ENGINE START' the correct way up, looking from right to left plug the connector onto the three pins with the yellow wire on the right, black on the left. Now using a voltmeter, determine the starter wire (only shows 12v when is at the crank position); the ignition source (it will show 12v when the ignition is on, and remain on when you start it up, accessory wires go to ground) and the 12v constant (which comes form the fuse box or ignition switch. I have done the hard work for you though, here are the colours: Starter wire: red with silver tracer Ignition source: black & white 12v constant: red & black Firstly, you will need to extend the red wire coming from pin 2 to the 12v ignition source (black/white), crimp it to the length of wire provided. Also crimp the round connector onto the black wire and find a good earthing position, like this one here, this means thelight on the button works: Wire pin 30 on the relay to the 12v constant (red/black), wire pin 86 to the same earthing position as the black wire from the button. Finally wire pin 87 to the starter wire under the steering wheel (red/silver). It will look like this: Now turn on your ignition and test it, if you do not want to be able to start your car using the key as well, disconnect the starter wire at the ignition switch and only attach it to the red wire from pin 87. When you have put all the bits back together it will look like this in the day: and this during the night:
