  1. The turbo will chatter louder because of the shorter intake. wrap 1/4 and test it, if it still creeps , wrap a bit more. Not the ideal thing as you will be getting a colder, more direct airflow, but the downside is not as much flow as you possibly could have. As long as it can take some air in, it will be fine untill you decide if youre going to port or not ;) just dont wrap the whole filter some guy did that around my area, made me chuckle all night.
  2. As Toby said, Either fit a restrictor inside the pipe, wrap the filter so you have less flow.. Really id say if youre relocating the filter straight off the turbo like that, you want the wastegate ported.Even then it may creep slightly depending on how much you port it. A good quality boost controller should be able to restrict the boost to what ever you set it at within the solenoid. But like Toby said, really you want to port youre w/g if youre moving the filter close to the turbo.
  3. Ah right, well i definately wouldnt put any heat near the lense then bro. If youre determined to rip them apart, heat a scalpel or stanley knife blade up and cut through it. Then just make sure you seal it back together well, any gaps in the seal will make them mist up terrible.
  4. Compression test ... Cost you about £15 and should give you an idea of the health of it bud. Exactly what have you got fitted ?
  5. ;) ill have to use that one l o l When are you starting the engine work Dave?
  6. mmm VAG stylee. I do however like the flared arches and the euro rims with stretched rubbers. Ive allways had a soft spot for euro styling.Shame the engines are pretty wank. My mate had one and it was a heap of crap.Seemed like everyday, a new sensor he didnt even know was fitted , would just DIE a slow and painfull death. He must have had to take a mortgage out just for replacement sensors alone ! All that besides, love the look of that one.Still cant beat a mk1 vw golf eurod
  7. Nicely said Jay. I thought they were new plugs too Rich?
  8. Boost pressure and bhp gains will all vary depending on what type of hybrid you go for bud. Some are basic with just an extra blade and some run totally different internals. If youre buying the hybrid or getting it built from a company/trader , they should tell you the limits of the turbo. And its its a quality hybrid, it probably wont need rebuilding for years depending on how you use the car. IE letting the turbo cool at idle after a run, not running it on its maximum limits etc. You really want an uprated actuator, full exhaust, manifold , decat , and uprated intercooler either larger topmo
  9. 1bar boost , set fpr @ 3bar then get it to a rollers. Will be safe to drive round with it at 3bar for a while, but dont think long term, you want it rr'ed asap when youre playing with fuelling/ignition.
  10. There all sealed units on n/as and Glanzas bud. If you really want to risk taking them apart, i would personally say, Use a brand new stanley knife, heat the blade up so its red hot, then burn through the seal. I wouldnt heat the plastic glass up mate as you risk burning it. I'm after having a go at my glanza lamps too, outside is spotless now but the inside is slightly tinged and dirty. My theory is, if you damage the lights you can always buy new ones not the best theory in the world but hey, works for me
  11. Welcome Matey. Hope you enjoy youre stay here Any questions , dont hesitate to fire them up and we will try our best to help you. Also dont forget some pictures once youve picked the GT up Craig.
  12. Depends if its anything like mine Drunken Welcome
  13. It could be down to the wrong kind of heatrange of plugs. If you really are still unsure, try new plugs. What type are they bud?
  14. LOL I love them personally. Not to everybodys taste, But then again 'nor is marmite
  15. I agree bud. Play it safe with brake items and go for brands you can rely on. Go for the 3g's.Spot on discs for a good price and you have the brand name behind them. And as Si said, id like to see what they come up with for the rears!
  16. Hope they hand out ear protectors for the pedestrians when that comes on boost What are you doing internal wise Dave?
  17. Very nice lol. Are they craft square mirrors? Did you make the base plates youre self ? im after some of them when i come to buying the rest of my carbon goodies.
  18. Yeah it did look tidy when i went in to look at it. Had a bit of laquer damage on one side though, also a skirt was peeling a tad too.Wouldnt have noticed just walking past but when you get close to it you could see it. Wasnt worth the 6k asking price at all though, bog standard engine wise other than exhaust and filter. They do seem to overcharge by a hell of a lot in there. But i suppose you pay extra for the ease of walking into there and lookin over it, rather than browsing internet forums and auction sites. Its a tall thin lad with blonde(if i remember) short hair. Got a pretty damn hot
  19. That Glanza looks very much like the one that was for sale in County Cars in Strood. It was posted up on here in the forsale section once im sure. Was going for about 6k. He has driven past my house when ive been out side washing my V a few times, stopped, stared and ripped off lol. Thats if its the same guy. Definately identical lookin glanza.Same advans, Scoop and tinted windows. Also the duck spoiler. N reg was it ? He must be up at uni there bud.
  20. U B E R kerb? what kerb... Car? what car.. *crunch* lol How comes youre out with the yanks matey?
  21. Yeah, there not cheap. But at least you can phone them and just say, "want to convert a n/a to a turbo, give me what i need" If you can be assed to hunt, ebay all the way. Just make sure you get some sort of guarantee with the 2nd hand engine if youre buying it off ebay, dont want to get it all fitted and its spun a bearing or just plain fubared
  22. The word "Jelous" springs to mind Please tell me its staying a 1.3 Dave What other goodies are going on ? Which ecu are you going to run with it mate?
  23. Any help is good help Installing it wont be the problem, but setting it up and gettting steady boost holding is the more.. shall i say "fun" part
  24. 110hp @ 6400rpm Not that much bud. Cheapest option like i say to most people is just to slap a 4efte in it. Pick a good low milage engine up for £500 Source the rear brake assembly, ecu , turbo etc if its not included and youre be looking at 133hp bog standard.
