£1000! No one would ever purchased a new turbo from toyota u can buy a gt turbo for that these days :/ ... If you pop a ct9, they can be picked up in healthy used condition for sub 100quid, Im even selling one atm thats in perfectly useable condition for £50... to go td04 youd need a manifold, downpipe, oil feed and return.... Zoe has non of these for the ct9.. So she's not got to replace anything... She would still need a manifold and downpipe for the ct9... ct12 is only ext wastgate? which is alot more money... you can convert to td04 for the same price as a new hybrid ct9...
show me 1 car that reached 220bhp on a hybrid ct9? without having to piss about with bigger injectors and a regulator... and if you do piss about doing that, you may as well go td04! the beauty of the ct9 is they will do 200bhp out the box... a hybrid will set you back £350-£450 for an extra 10bhp? may as well just buy a TD04 for £50-80 off ebay or stick with stock turbo...
the stock tmic will run 1bar fine... but the performance gain and sound difference, swapping to a fmic will transform the car! but yeh the arc tmic are alot better then stockers!
they used to go for mad money... but ive seen them going from anywhere between 350 and 550quid... end of day, watever u buy it for, ull be able to sell it for that... so i see it as an investment rather then a loss of money!
you can run what you want buddy, the top mounts are very efficent! After coming off the motoway on mine at 0.8bar the cold side pipe was freezing... tbh they will work upto and over 1bar im sure... but you aint going to beat an alloy front mounted intercooler! There good for mad boost levels!
awesome taggy mate, loving it! Driveshafts all line up ok? Cant believe its all this easy! Gonna be sooo light! Get it on a weigh bridge when its done i wana know what it weighs
the ct9's are good for over 200bhp.... (guide in my sig) all day long... but the td04 offers more power, more torque at a lower/safer boost level. If mapped correctly will be better on fuel too! Go out in one with a td04 bolted on it, you'll be VERY suprised...
heater matrix 100% if your getting wet feet, its failed... and its a dash out jobbie to change it... 9/10 there just blocked... they get clogged up with shit so easily... take both the water hoses off at the back of the engine bay. jubliee a hose pipe onto one end and turn tap on... you'll see all sorts of SHIT come out other side (take other hose off or it goes in ya engine)... Some people have had to fill it with water and put some cleaning solutions in there to get rid of the shit/grim which is another option... Good Luck!
Bit of a bad example cus the td04 starlet launched off boost... soon as they were out of 1st gear tho, made the ct9 starlet look like it was going backwards... and racing in 1st gear is no kind of race Not that much quicker to come on boost... if you cant change the gears fast enough to keep the boost up then you cant drive lol... even granny shifting if you rev to 7k and change you'll be well within boost for next gear the people that moan about lag is the prople that clearly havent been in one
oil seals if left unused for long periods of time can become frail and start to fail... weather it be stem seals, oil seal in turbo... they all suffer from it... if you plan on leaving your car for long periods of time id recommend running it up to temp every now and then to keep things circulating
spool time from 2000rpm to boost. and inbetween gears is very different.... if i beef my car, rev it round to 6500-7000rpm change gear, there is no delay it kicks you back again straight away... depends what gear your in, if you can drive ct9 wont stay anywhere near a td04 however, zoe... go stock ct9 or td04! but as i said supporting mods first
if the car stands for long periods of times... the valve stem seals could be the culprit... but tbh lew... 90% sure it will be the ct9 oil seals.. the oil seals failiing wont effect how it boosts or performs if its only smoking a little bit.... Imo, go TD04 or find a low milage healthy ct9... Hybrids i just cant justify there costs...
blue smoke on throttle is gonna be: turbo seals piston rings headgasket failure between cylinder and oil way or blocked breather Check for shaft play like adam said.. ct9's are getting on abit now! Compression test will enlighten you the ring wear... see wat psi u can build on a warm engine! May also show h/g failure, though that is a long shot! clean breathers out, but very unlikely! Only thing that can really fail on breather setup is pcv valve. but just unplugging it and blanking it off from inlet you can easily rule that out? Good Luck Lew!
