Year: 1992 Model: Starlet S EP85 MOT: 24th November 2017 Mileage: 118,271km | 73,490miles Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland. Close to Belfast docks and Larne docks if a ferry is required if it sells to the mainland. Description: Little bit of history This car was originally imported by Starlet Legend Trevor (Ballymena) It was then owned by Peter Smyth, Ted and now myself. All of us are starlet enthusiasts who have owned multiple starlets in our time. Since import it has never had any other owners, and I think that is reflected in the condition its found in today. Not showroom condition but it is very good for a 24 year old car. This is actually my second 4wd starlet that was originally imported by Trevor, at that time this car was owned by Peter Symth and I owned a black turbo ep85 sports select. The only reason im selling this car is I have too many cars about me at the moment and really must thin the fleet. I currently also have a ep95 turbo thats not for sale as i will continue to be a part of the community. That being the case I would love to see this go to another enthusiast but I wont be accepting offers just to shift it. Since being imported in 2007, the car has run various specs ranging from the original ct9 to a impressive CCM forged race engine with standalone management and IHI turbos etc. I have two keys for the car. All locks are the same and all body panels are original. It is a UK Registered car, complete with V5 log book, UK reg and MOT with the DVA. Reg is UKZ 4941 I have most of the previous MOT discs. The past two and a half years it was off the road so there is no mot for then. To drive the car is great, it handles like a go kart as the suspension and geomtry was setup by a sucessful local rally man. The steering is very direct. The weight of the steering is very natural, not too heavy. The car launches in wet slippery surfaces with minimal if any at all wheel spin in first and no wheel spin at all in second. In second it will push you firmly back into the drivers seat. Its great on B road blast as its cornering speed is phenominal. The 4wd system is great to drive in comparision to the fwd starlets and glanzas. Ive had many over the years and do love them all but the 4wd is a rather special experience. Comes with all the usual trim level goodies: Power SteeringElectric WindowsFront Fog LightsIts also fully loaded with factory options too:Factory Toyota Option Wind DeflectorsFactory Option Adjustable Wiper StalkFactory Toyota 5 Piece Floor Mat SetCurrent spec is as follows: ENGINE GT engine supplied from Jay/John JonesGT electrical loomsGT ECUFreshly rebuilt gearbox, thicker gears from a GT (H Smith Gearbox Specialists) Millers 75w90 gearbox oilNew Kevlar lined friction plateNew Uprated Vaelo pressure plateGt interiorLong life Red CoolantMillers 10w40 oil semi syntheticK&N oil filterNew aux beltsNew water pumpNew OEM ignition leadsNew NGK PlugsAlloy half size radSlim line fanEVO front mount intercoolerBailey dump valveWalbro 225 fuel pumpCat Back Custom Stainless ExhaustOEM Cat is gutted ie. straight through.INTERIORTurbo timer2 gauge A pillar podGenuine OMP steering wheelTRD gear knobKenwood cd/mp3 playeraftermarket front speakers6x9 rear speakersGT optional 5 piece floor matsEXTERIOR Genuine locking aero catch bonnet pins (bought from demon tweeks)Toyota Factory wind deflectorsAero blade wipersSUSPENSION/BRAKESMiesterR zeta coilovers (greased completly before instalation)Powerflex Polybushed bottom armsAnti lift kitPowerflex Poly bushed anti roll barPowerflex poly bushed rear gearbox mountGrooved DiscsBrembo pads5.1 Fluid15 Inch alloysHankook TyresSECURITYClifford Arrow 5.1 AlarmSeperate immobilisor (even with the alarm and key fob it cannot be started)Door Pins removedCondition:The car is in very good condition for being 24 years old. It has a few small car park dings down the sides & stone chips at the front. Nothing major. I have paint here for it as I had previously planned to repaint the bumpers and bonnet. The car was off the road for two and a half years there and I have just rebuilt it and done 1000miles in it. Mileage will continue to go up as I am using it daily. Everything listed as new only has 1000 miles on, aswell as the gearbox rebuild. TD04 Manifold & Downpipe & Screamer (Sold)
ttestarlet replied to TimD's topic in Starlet Parts For Sale
wepr manifolds arent top price. there priced really well for what you get. these are starlets not 100k cars. If you want the best youll have to get the flanges matched to your head and dowls fitted it aligns perfectly plus gaskets to match, plus youll want all the welding purged. No one does this off the shelf and im sure it would be 4 times the price to have it made in the uk at £35 per hour plus materials. All off which is a waste of time for very little if any noticable gain, better off with 1 more psi! -
Lewis's Silver 1997 Glanza Build Thread

your doing a good job mate. The gasket you used on your turbo might give bother, there not great. Best to use toyota gaskets when possible. -
Heres my verdict, possibly biased as ive never owned a racetech kit but ive owned everything from ebay, sps, zisco, dean at rd developments, JAM and Wepr. So for me the answer to the title is WEPR. In comparision Sacha has excellent customer service since the beginning of TGTT. He has been serving the starlet community over ten years while competitors have came and went. Bearing in mind how small the market is and how easy every customer is to reviewing products with one another on these forums and social media. Its also worth noting the diversity of customers reviewing the products. Majority arent actually mechanics even though they can work a spanner doesnt mean the kits are fitted as well as they should be. Even some mechanics are questionable! Its a seriously tough business to be in. As for me I am a Llyods/TUV coded tig pipe welder for around the same length of time. I work on very high pressure pipework thats tested by xray, way beyond what the manifold kits are. Power. This totally depends on the individual product/turbo kit within racetech or wepr. Ive never seen anyone dyno test these manifolds back to back but at a guess id say they are pretty much the same if you tested like for like. There using similar diameter tubing and the length and amount of bends is going to be pretty similar for both. If it was a comparision against ziscos smaller diameter tubing it would be a different story. As for overall power though it depends on what you want as a driver. Ive owned original wepr ct9 manifold, wepr ct9 external wastegate kit, wepr gt2871r kit and multiple wepr td04 and vf series turbo kits upto 1.5bar and my favourite of them all was a hybrid ct9 external wastegate kit at a 1 bar. Instant power throughout the rev range and the noise on boost out the screamer pipe was epic. Reliabilty. Lifetime with wepr, what more could you ask for. Other things to concider would be material used actual fitting. Use someone who you can trust to fit it. Welds could be improved in both companies, I would like to see welds purged. 5e engine going into 4paw questions ??
ttestarlet replied to Danz_ep95's topic in 4WD Starlet Knowledge Base
Yes goes straight in. -
This is super cool! Can you share your story with us of how you've ended up in japan modifying and tracking a starlet?
-
I contacted real street performance to buy some of these and they are unavailable. They said to contact pro gram direct but there email does not work.
-
Looks good! What's the plans?

This is sad, I'm pretty sure this is the first sports select 4x4 ever imported to the UK by Trevor and turbo'd by him. It was insane and his wife made him sell it and then I bought it, cherished it for a few years then I was forced to sell it. Paul Carnell bought it and took it to England. Someone needs to keep this alive!

I've also broke main caps, on the timing side. The crank also bent 27thou. Also stripped 3rd gear before this. Mainly daily driven on a 4e vf35@ 1.5 bar. I done lots of miles and a small amount of drag days. I don't see how a girdle will strengthen the main caps as you couldn't have the surface between the two mated to increase thickness for strength. It would need spaced and I do believe that would strengthen the block slightly. I'm in a dilemma myself what the best solution is.
-
I'm also interested in this because I've also stripped 3rd. I stripped a paseo box to see but the gears looks weaker. I'm going to start looking through diesel box's to see if I can fin anything similar size with a thicker tooth.

Rain sports!!!!!!!!! Best tyre ever. I've tried everything and I mean everything. Rain sports are the best. The grip is unreal in them. For road use obviously. On track/dry days slicks are the only way, r888 etc are just a waste.

Good job Phil! I had my nephews out walking the dog at stormount and could hear it all so I walked up to to the very top through the forest but couldn't get out to view cause its all fenced off. I was gutted cause I could hear your man on the tannoy and racey noises -
Keep up the great work Chris its gonna be class
-
Just read your whole story/build and it was brilliant, keep up the good work pal! I'd recommend getting yourself a proper lsd like the cusco one. It will transform your car, its the best mod for a starlet! The Toyota lsd is a joke.
-
I've had plug and play ecu like the blitz access before that reved to 8500.
-
This is my daily drift missile and it gets some amount of attention and fuel lol. 1990 white edition turbo manual supra, comes with the 3.0 single turbo 7mgte engine and desirable r154 gearbox and lsd standard. It's not fast but it is smooth and easy to skid.

Chassie set ups on Japans track starlets vs uk
ttestarlet replied to abbott's topic in Performance & Track Days
I done a pile of testing out different setups over years and wasted alot of money as far as I can see haha. Most modifications aren't worth the cost in my opinion. Keep it as simple as possible, with the rear stiffer than the front and use slicks. I've done this a few ways and my favourite was pretty simple and cheap. It consisted of braced rear end. No braces in the front and koni adjustable dampers on kyb lowering springs. Il have to post up the geometry settings. Without a doubt slicks is the biggest difference on track. Not r888 ect proper race slicks. -
Sorry to hear about that mate, I was super paranoid driving my starlet daily over here. I went to town on security. Starlets are easy stole as youve experienced. First thing they do is bend the door back to pull the door lock pin. So I removed my door pin, if it's not there they can't get in unless they smash a window. It's free to do and a brilliant deterant. Second thing to do is snap the steering lock. So a snap off steering wheel boss will prevent this. So the only way now to get the car is to actually get the keys and the steering wheel which unfortunately makes your house the next target or yourself the next target. Third thing is ignition, so they've got your keys and your steering wheel with your alarm key fob. The car is there's for the taking but you can still stop them by having kill switches, I'd suggest multiple eg ignition and fuel pump. Alarms are overated in my opinion, they can be bypassed and even if they don't get away with the car, it will still have the door and steering lock damaged.
