Picked up the donor EP82 from the docks...
NightSpirit replied to NightSpirit's topic in Lifestyle General
I'll get some decent pics up this weekend when I start fiddling... Driving it last night, foot down in 2nd, 3rd....torque steering like a mofo it was great. No real slippage even on a damp country lane. The real problem (hopefully the only one) is that because the suspension is so hard and the car shifts so quick, you can't actually drive at any real speeds as it becomes very unstable in the corners etc. -
;) Now come on streetracer...comparing it to something you'd see adorning a spotty 17yr olds (no offence to any 17yr old EP owner by the way) Nova is a bit much...I draw the line at that insult.

As I say to the wife...Just because I'm on a diet, doesn't mean I can't look at the menu ;)

so you both like men? ;) slight change of plan...might not fit it now!

Picked up the donor EP82 from the docks...

Sounds like fun...count me in...in either EP. If I get the engine done in time (TALLLLLL order) I'll be there in the trackstar. Just need to get the engine, gearbox, clutch, fuel pump out, into my car, then wrap the exhaust manifold (leave the NurSpec on there for now) and sort out the cam cover. I'll be starting a large for sale thread soon with bits from the donor EP, seems a real shame to strip her down as she's a little beast. First thing for sale is a set of TRD coilovers ;) what sort of price they worth? in VERY good condition. -

The engine is bored to 1.4 apparently...no idea on other internal strengthening. The TD05 is only pushing 1.4bar though so I think that's the limit at current spec of the lump. When's the christmas meet then? I could come in either EP...a slower one that weighs nothing or a heavier one that flies. Or a Glanza or an Integra Type R I've adopted from a friend...or the Jag ;) Hoping to get the engine swap done in the next month. -
The car looks quite good so far, it has a genuine Trust TD05-16G and lots of crazy mods going on...doesn't even run an air filter just a gauze over the turbo. The twin plate clutch is quite fun too, I'm used to those so no problems but my mate stalled it several times on a petrol station forecourt ;) Driving it home in the dark though...giving it some beans. Didn't really floor it in any gear below 4th but as a comparison we sat side by side, me in the EP, mate in my Jag...3ltr v6 it's an animal on the motorway and pisses all over most things this side of a Monaro...so a 1.3ltr would struggle

Better (or worse) pics...

My grandson...in the words of the great CatchPhrase host Roy 'permatan' Walker...say what ye see. ;) I do have taste honest, it'd look good I think when it's all done. My worry though is that if I stack the car on a track it's going to get wasted (hence going for a kit that bolts on rather than replaces)...and I am worried about the weight, but that's another reason, the kit weighs about 5kg in total and that's all weight added to the base of the car, helping the low centre of gravity (in theory). I may not fit the thing though, it's going to be a while before I did it as there are more bits

Fair enough I only like the Toms bodykit or this one...this one is more oldschool in its look.

Doobie Doobie Doobie

My new bodykit for the trackstar not to everyones taste I know but it's light, functional and bloody well made. Purple Speed it is...Always wanted to receive a huge box with 'Doobie' written on it

Theoretical Boost control options...
NightSpirit replied to NightSpirit's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
That's very true... In which case I may stick with the Blitz for ease of tweaking...I was only thinkin AVC-R as that will allow me to control the boost all through the rev range etc. All being well I pick up the EP82 from Southampton on monday fingers crossed all is good! -
I had 17s on the old EP82 years back...worse mod I ever did. Might have looked good but fucked up the performance massively. I only run 16s now to clear the brakes (might try and sneak some 15s on there next week)
-
Let's say you have a nice round 300hp from your engine...in a front wheel drive car. In first and second unless the boost is limited, you're going to spin like crazy...or are you? The reason I ask is that I have 2 options with the car, either a greddy mechanical boost dial, set at xxx psi or a Blitz SBC Type-R (old one). Neither can control boost at certain revs/gears. Do I flog them both and buy an AVC-R? or will it not make much difference to track day/acceleration anyway?

Thought I'd add to this... The EP is never going to light up the drag strip, especially if it's a road car. 1.3ltr engine FF layout...lightness... = crap. I'd also say the EP is never going to pull an amazing 0-60 time. The way I'd measure a fast EP is on a track or real world driving as having a 1000hp Skyline that runs sub 10 up the strip is usually going to be utter shit in real world driving.

no gay 'ring' responses please....
-
ask me in 6 months time...I reckon I can lay down some good times once I get things sorted. Not really a dragstrip fiend though, more of a 'I went round the 'ring in 3 minutes' kind of guy

Next thing is to get this engine swap done, if all goes well she'll have around 380hp per tonne and 0 traction ;) Driving the car is pure fun though, got to say...it's taken the fun that is the EP and concentrated it into a purer form....awesome -

I'll sort out the misting problem when it occurs ;) so far even in torrential rain (that wasn't fun) it hasn't misted up. Might borrow my nans two bar electric one -

Cheers ;) The interior is now purely functional I like it...and the added bonus is that because the rubber bungs etc to the engine bay are now gone...you get a nice breeze through the car as you drive lol -

Final little update for you on this round of mods...bearing in mind there are still several things I can do (all of which weigh A LOT) polycarb glass, carbon boot, carbon wings, carbon doors, race battery, front exit exhaust, remove PAS etc. Standard mirrors (now for sale ) weigh a hefty 2.46kg...thought I could do better. Made up some base plates Fitted and sprayed em Added the carbon GT mirrors (they weigh 120g!) And now the interior...still needing a centre panel making up to house the switches and fuses (and the gauges aren't plumbed in) Hardest thing was tidying the w -

Group trip in the new year then -
A decent set of 15s (usually in white) go for around 250+all the costs in Japan so I'd say keep 'em if you like them. Riko, I do have a premium rate 0898 'car parts' sex line
