u dont need an engine crane, just drop it onto a tyre or something providing you can get the car high enough to pull the engine out from underneath. id start by dissconecting all the wiring and earths etc are you pulling the gearbox out aswell?

its not a hard job buddy, can be done with minimal tools, i dropped the engine out of my GT myself with a small halfords socket set and no engine crane just take some pics of the wiring as you go to make it easier when dropping it back in
