Thought i should add a little update on this as i haven't updated this topic in nearly a month now, not that there is much to update Im sorry for those people that will log on to UKSC and see that i have posted in this topic only to be disapointed by the update Well TGT have my lexus in at the moment for repairs/service so work has shifted away from the buggy and onto that. I hopefully pick my lex up in a week or so when i am allowed to start driving again. Im dying to drive! Haven't driven a car in nearly 4 weeks now and im going nuts stuck at home. I have been doing what i can though while im in this state, which isn't much. I have been told to not lift anything heavier than a kettle so can't really do much on the buggy. Plus i can't actually drive up to work on it. I have ordered a few parts and stuff is strating to roll in slowly so that when im back to health i can go full out on it. Brand new exedy clutch arrived last week. Very happy with it, its only the standard version but as the buggy is so light i don't think i will need anything stronger. As im swapping over to the LSD box shortly it makes sense to just put a new clutch in. I don't know what state the old clutch is in but its stupid not to swap it while its off. I have a pair of black gel coat arch's on order also, was going to order a full set but didn't want to risk it in case the quality isn't right, or incase they don't fit properly. Plan is to cut the arch's down a LOT. Im aiming to have the smallest arch's possible while keeping it legal. I have mocked out a template and need to make a final version that will mount to the hubs so i can get the placement correct but the arch's should be really small. This will mean that the weight is kept right down and you will be able to see more of the wheel/tyre which i think will look better. This morning i have sent off the remaining chassis parts to be laser cut from steel and hopefully these will be in production shortly. I am also waiting on a few replys on parts, f1 style mirrors, green harnesses etc. Apart from that all i have been doing is sitting here reading the IVA manual from front to back. God this thing is boring but i need to read it!!!! When i start driving again i will be up working on the buggy, mainly all i will be doing is painting bits as thats all i can pretty much do in my state. Hopefully James will be getting the engine out and on a stand so that i can get the block cleaned/prepped/painted and then back in with all new shiney parts. Its getting there people, slowly but it is still going! Sorry for the essay................ Jason ;)

Welcome to the club. There are always some nice examples for sale on here and pistonheads. If you are worried about any of the cars for sale on pistonheads then post a link up on here as you will probably find someone on here that knows about it Jason

Jo, I really want to get along to this but it all depends how far along the buggy is. In theory it should be almost there (all be it not road legal) but the build has taken longer and cost more money than i originally planned as i have added so much extra parts! If i have a useable buggy then i may bring it along and maybe even get it on the rollers but if its still in pieces i may just leave it as its a long way for me to bring a load of parts. I know its not technically a Starlet but im sure people will be interested to see it. Jason

Sold it for me think i will be investing in a set of them

IMOC is probably your best option

Just had a little catch up on this thread! Haven't really read it in a while what with hospital etc but WOW!!!! Its really coming along now, looking like this is going to be completly mint. I would love to do a project just like this, but i guess i need to finish my other projects first Keep up the good work dude, love it

Haha true, i shouldn't be doing any slapping And don't worry i start work back on the buggy tomorrow Its just doing the CAD/laser cutting work but i will be back on it and i said you could drive the Demon also dude ;)

To be honest it probably ain't worth it! Most bits will probably be knackered or just rusted on so will snap when you take them off. Have a look at ebay for people breaking minis and you will get a rough idea of prices etc. Most things are sooooo cheap new that most people will just buy new parts than second hand ones. A brand new water pump with gasket is £12. pads £8 a set and most engine parts are usually relatively cheap also. You can probably pick up a 1275gt engine for about £200 i guess. Personally i think it would be better off as a project car/rebuild. Jason

i second that
-
its sort of...... 15% Mini 30% GT 5% original kit car 5% other cars 45% made up
-
Yep! Demon started off life as a mini, or most of one!
-
depends how much you can get it for???
-
The old mini's are great and there is alot of parts/stuff available for them at very reasonable prices. The amount of interest in them is amazing so there are so many people about to help with questions and problems. My next project may well be a mini as i just love them! Obviously the Demon has mini running gear/hubs/coilovers etc and plan is to keep it all mini as its just soooooooo cheap to replace any bits. For example a set of vented/grooved and drilled performance discs will set you back about £33 And you can get a alloy 4 pot caliper conversion kit with everything needed to fit for about £300. If your looking to buy it to break it then its probably not worth it as prices for second hand parts are quite low. If its got a good body/chassis then may well be worth buying as a project car though??? Jason

i should do my face up like 'team america' with boot polish and bits of hair just glued on in random places
-
Easy thats a bit unfair How dare you call her a Demon, there is only 1 Demon and its not her................ But yes she is a complete tramp!
-
So you have a TD04 and your going to try and get through £40 of fuel doing 'easy driving' I think the temptation to destroy some chavs will be too great and the fuel will be gone before you know it.................... 120 miles?

Thanks for the love people I was looking forward to a carbon valve but they obviously decided on Titanium for a reason? The little booklet i have said it would be carbon but when i spoke to the surgeon he confirmed it was Titanium. He said he has never seen the carbon ones Im guessing that they where going to change to carbon fibre but there was obviuosly a problem or something??? The X ray i had looks well funny. The Titanium valve looks like a little bullet casing thats lodged next to my heart and you can also see the metal wires that are bound through my chest bone holding me together (these stay in also). Going to be interesting going through customs when i get on a plane. Whats that ticking sir, come over here so we can scan you. Hmmmm there seems to be a bullet shaped object inside your chest along with some wires...........

thanks people I keep forgetting it was my birthday yesterday, didn't really feel like it. Sarah hasn't given me my present yet, she's not allowed to give it to me for 2-3 weeks as i need to take it easy and not put any strain on my heart Everyone else chipped together and got me the best present i have had in a long time, a double memory foam matress When you have been stuck in a crappy hospital bed for 2 weeks that thing is like heaven!!!!!!!!!! Im still having problems sleeping as the heart valve is so loud that i can hear the ticking REALLY clearly and its not carbon fibre, they used titanium in the end, doesn't really matter what its made from, keeping me alive is what it needs to do.
