Ermmmmm... This sort of came into my possesion the other day after a drunken ebay bid... Give it a strip down and a good clean etc, Rotated it and bashed it back together. Hopefully fit it on sunday and see how it goes! If its laggy i will pop the TF035 Back on but i think i might be impressed! Heres a few pics LOL Thanks for looking as usual! TT -
1.9mm Headgasket Vs Standard For reliability/Boost levels

So your saying a 1.9mm headgasket would make it very low compression and it would be very lazy off boost? I dont want to lower it a crazy amount if the standard gasket is 1.0mm, Would 1.4mm be a better compromise? And also how do you work out the compression ratio? Ie whats standard, what would it be on 1.2mm, 1.4mm and 1.9mm Gaskets? Thanks:) -
Is there any reliability benefits to fitting a 1.9mm headgasket during a gasket change if im planning on running more boost and a bigger turbo? Ie lower temps and less danger of detonation killing the engine etc etc if i fit a 1.9mm one? And also what mm is the standard toyota gaskets? Thanks

As above my car is currently running a KS Rom ecu, TF035 Turbo with the usual supporting mods, A full ignition overhaul kit also Car runs really well of boost hovers around 14.8 as it should, and gradually richens as you build boost, However if you go WOT It slams round to full rich, feels like its hesitating and throws black smoke out and flames obviously. Once it goes above 5.5 to 6k It leans off a bit to 10.3 10.4 or so and feels much better Could a shitty map sensor cause something like this? Ideally i think its the KS Rom making it run very rich, Or somethings giving it a duf

Oh and mick do you mind if we swap ECUs for a day or so? See if it fuels my setup any better to help the mental richness lol?

As above me and micky had a little mooch out and micky drove both cars, Its a weird one as even i felt unsure on as to what felt punchier, The CT9 Obviously felt more responsive, (Came on boost 300rpms sooner) So spool times are similiar, But the power felt completely different to my setup! IMHO boosting about inbeetween roundabouts etc i dont think there would be anything in it, but bigger runs the bigger less restrictive setup would pull away The main places the TF035 Feels better than the CT9 Where up top and 4th and 5th gear pulls, Where the CT9 Felt like it was mega struggling and

Yeh its the same problem mick! Doesnt do it all the time though its like if you catch it off guard. Doesnt miss it just goes fluffy for a second or so then goes like fuck!! Swapped a coil with phil today and i would sat it feels better, but it did it once in about 20miles. Its only in the higher gears on a pull from low revs,thats the only time i can notice it! And yeh i have always had a feeling it was the ks rom, giving it so much fuel lmao. Nees to take you out in it mick see what you think! -
As above think i need a new coil on the glanza as its hesitating on full boost at about 4-5K and hasnt gone away even after i changed everything ignition related (Bar the coil) Is any of the MSD Ignition stuff relatively plug and play for a better spark? or is there any other decent ones? And also if i wanted to go COP is it possible on a P&P Ecu or is it a lot of chew? Thanks

Managed to grab a few photos today with PhilG, Came out quite well! Cars now setup at 1.1Bar on the TF035 and its still never failing to impress me, pulls so hard and the spool is ridicolous! The KS Rom documents i have reccomend a minimum of 102 Ron, in that dogdy translate lol. Can i use normal fuel? No must use least premium 102 or something lol!

No its awesome at idle. bang on 650revs. Its only if i lift off slightly it pulls better! Weird one. Seemed worse when i was on CT9 though lol

Timing does that too engines. Its too far advanced surely if they have both gone on the intake side? Ie piston is still on its way up when its igniting causing way to much heat/Stress. Possible to keep in check with a constant supply of top quality fuel etc etc but on a road car its too agressive 2 cars on similiar setups is definetely a tuning issue. No doubt about it! Tbf though it would only become a serious problem at max load and revs etc due to heat build up (IE MELTED PISTONS!) TT -
Mine goes to 10.4 and fluctuates on full boost and does sometimes feel like it holds back. Ie when im in a high gear low revs it feels sliggush. Also changed plugs leads dizzy and rotor arm. Only thing i can think of is the coil as above? If you lift off slightly its okay and pulls harder...

Thanks shorty, and as i said previously why would i want to lose that 1000revs for what i see as no benefit on a standard motor?? And not driving my powerband? Its a road car not a track weapon and i would rather not have to drive it like a Vtec everywhere to overtake stuff when i can do it in 5th now at 2500Rpm. I could easily thrash it about everywhere on a bigger turbo and rev it but i dont have too. Plus its a Fwd car with 200+ hp and the bigger and smoother the powerband the better As i said if your looking for more power go Td04 or something better (plenty out there!) -
