Ignition differencies FTE and FE?
Rob H@RCH Engineering replied to Xpect's topic in Ignition & Fueling
Yes it is mate had a boosted 4efe using the n/a ignition system and had no problems, my current engine was going to use the same set up but ended up going coil on plug as Im using a stand alone ecu. -

The N/A ignition system has the coil built in to the distributor so does not have the external one like the turbo engines. The turbo engines have the distributor and a coil pack. -

Exhaust mountings - Glanza vs N/A
Rob H@RCH Engineering replied to Jamie5414's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
Yep your wright! The front mounting on the n/a is part of the rear engine mount, on the Glanza it's in the tunel behined where the cat would be on the n/a. there is one of the mountings there on the n/a I just welded another on mine. The rear hanger is the same on both Glanza and the n/a. -

Piston movement in bore?
Rob H@RCH Engineering replied to patman's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Is the play in the pistons up/down or side to side in the bores? there is supposed to be some side to side movement to allow for expansion in the piston, and also you will have a small amount in the bearings some in the big end and some in the little end (gudgeon pin) to allow for the oil, the oil takes up the slack and acts as a cushion between the surfaces. Thin oil will get past the rings in time too this is normal, rings act more as a friction seal there not completely air tight same again this allows for a thin coat of oil to form on the bores. If every thing was good before you stripped -
Looks like a standard turbo to me. If he wants top end why upgrade from a supposed billet TD04 to a TD05???? sounds like bolox to me!

Im a Stack user and I fined them brill, Ive just ordered a dimmer unit for mine as the only problem I fined with them is there too bright!

put it in a spray bottle and spray it around the joints that should work, but by the sound of that I would not say it was not a leak because the idle would be high too and yours sounds quite stable. I would say it was just one of those things lol

I have a black glanza tail gate and a black n/a bonnet, the bonnet has a few marks and the odd dent and the tail gate has some small bubbles in the lacquer on the spoiler but does come with a 98spec clear brake light.

Not all the syncros are the same!! also the syncro hub differs too, some have more engagement teeth than others, I carnt remember what way round it is but I think the GT syncros have more teeth than the Glanza ones.

Get one mate all you need is a wage slip or something you don't have to be in the motor trade just a trade lol
-
I would recommend the Halfords pro ones mate if you have a Halfords trade card they work out about 1/2 the price and are very good IMO British made and are very clear to read where the snap-on ones can be a pain in the ass!
-
Snap-on torque wrenches are not covered by the life time warranty as there a calibrated item!! its a min charge of 60 quid plus vat I think it is! for any repair or calibration adjustment! thats why I got shut of mine! MAC tools ones are the same too! All the norbar, halfords, old school brit tool ones are easy ajusted to get them back into tolerance and dont need expensive repairs for calibration. On the other hand the smaller 3/8s and 1/4 drive snap-on ones can be adjusted too by the calibrator but some wont adjust them anyway! I have been using torque wrenches now for the best part of 20 ye

It wont have disc brakes as they never made a LHD GT it will be a non turbo car that has been converted to turbo like pure rage did with his, as for converting yours to disc brakes I dont think there is any need to as the drums are just as good imo. But it can be done quite easy if you can get hold of the parts to do it. You will need a GT/ Glanza axle or the full brake set ups off both sides and the brake cables the rest is pretty straight forward swap over.
