Any engine without a UK equivilent. 4efe is the UK equivilent and as a 4efte is turbo'd it should easily pass 4efe tests with the standard set up.

Burning oil could be a few things ( turbo seals, valve stem oil seals, headgasket ) that said incorporated with the vibrating which i assume it is because it is running rough which makes me think it is the latter 2 of 3.

Personally I find it hard to compare they are both very different cars. I know you say running costs arent important but ofcourse they are especially in this climate fuel tax and insurance is only getting more expensive. Starlet will be cheaper on all 3 and with fuel heading well over 1.50 p/l Id have to say the 14mpg from the evo would be enough to put me off. I almost bought an EvoX this year and only avoided it due to the mileage I do. Not just that but the evo is 4wd meaning more tyres, more brakes, more cv joints, more parts to go wrong in all. At the end of the day both cars have their positives and negatives and can both achieve big power and a fast car. As much as you say it doesnt matter the biggest factor is going to be cost and unless you have a money well its what does matter most in the end.

U can paint a inlet mani with anythin bud hes askin about exhaust mani.

Get it ceramic coated. I cant see any paints lasting longer than a few hours of driving on a mani.

I'd definately beat him down on the price a little but does seem a genuine little car he isnt trying to fleece anyone by saying its a right head turner with a BOV that adds 50 bhp and a ridiculous power figure. To me it looks a good solid honest little car thats maybe not been polished every week but 128000km is low mileage for a GT and the fact he doesnt mention spec or a bhp figure or any engine mods at al tbh tells me it may be rather standard with just an exhaust, Like hou said contact TD and see what they say they maybe fitted the exhaust and thats where the sticker came from. If the engine seems smooth and pulls well without smoking I'd happily pay 1500 for it anyway.

Why do you want high comp? Your set up makes little sense. A high comp engine running td04 doesnt make much sense as like Dan says it limits the boost you can run and technically you can run a td04 on a standard engine up to about 1bar safely. IMO high comp only makes sense if you are n/a, with a boosted car surely low comp makes more sense.

Course not mate it should be a 2min job to identify it when you know what your doing. Nah mate the wastegate gasket isnt what you need. Thats a gasket for a wastegate hence the name lol. Mind you if they are the same size it might work. You need a CT9 hotpipe gasket. Just make 1 from a bit of cereal box. I have ran mine without one for years and its fine if you can get it tight enough and the surfaces are flat.
