I didnt have a choice with mine when the bonnet flew open it damaged all the front of the car which the catch holds onto and snapped the bar which sits in the middle. So the reason i got around to doing it was because i had to lol, i wasnt looking forward to do it, but had a few beers a BBQ and got my mate around to help so made a day of it, plus it was glorious sun all day too -
I havent seen a starlet with them on so thought i would post up some pics of mine, i always had problems with the bonnet catch on mine and after the bonnet flew open last summer when driving i was like f**kin hell better sort that out. Finally got around to doing it anyway, were £45 off the net and blend in well with the bonnet. the catches it pays to take your time and mark out the pins properly which sit underneath, i wasnt going to risk cocking this up. oh shit here we go, jigsaw time lol use the template the finished product, 4 hours later, a fiddly time consuming

Yeah a right bitch, luckily i got it right more less first time but it took ages to get the pin underneath bang on so when you drop the bonnet the catches all sit in the right place. Must have taken about 2 hours per catch to fit, had to measure it properly, mask it, cut it, fit it, remeasure, then align it all and tighten. Took so long as you had to get it right first time or it would look shit. Worth the effort though, another thing done on the list! -

Yeah thats what im worried about, it was a bit of a dodgy fit going on and i damaged a stud putting it on because it was so tight and had to replace it. I think im gonna take it off, put a flat edge on it and then go from there, fuckin pain the god dam ass is what it is! I didnt think to check it before i fitted. If its warped im sending the bloody thing back as i also noticed the Decat pipe was also machined wrong and i can only get two of the 3 bolts in at the moment so im gonna have to redrill it to make up for the tolerance inaccuracy. Ok so i want a toyota gasket for the head to the ma -
Took my car for a spin today to test out the TD04 and i noticed im getting hardly any boost, turbo wasnt even beginning to spool up until nearly 4500rpm and even then it was nearly nothing. Looked in the engine bay and can hear that the toyosports manifold i bought is blowing quite badly past the gasket, seems to be coming from number 4 and you can feel it when you rev it blowing. Now when i fitted it i notice that the manifold didnt just slide straight onto the studs, it must have been machined slightly wrong as i had to use a hammer to tap it onto the studs to sit flush. I also noticed ga

Got the turbo pipework all hooked up now and I have also fitted some cool aero catches to my bonnet, its taken me pritty much all day today to fit with about 3 BBQ sessions in between but they look the business and are cool to open. Car is ready to be MOT'd now apart from needing some new battery terminal connectors, the bloody jap ones are a pain in the ass to get connections for as the pins on the battery are so small. My gasket is blowing on my manifold too which is causing me to get hardly any boost, so gotta figure out why its doing that which is a bitch. I think these cheap toyosports -
im glad its going well, i was expecting the worst when i read that ha ha!!
