  1. I am about to start the next stage of my build and I need a standard intake mani. Preferably in N/I so I can pick up.
  2. I haven't updated this in a while. The piston rings have gone, so I have clouds of blue smoke. Instead of pulling the engine out, I'm going to take the head and sump off, disconnect the con-rods and pull the pistons out that way. I can't be assed with the hassle of pulling everying thing out. My Tomie FPR is not adjusting and its running rich a fook, haven't decided what FPR to go with yet, still stuck between FSE & Sard. So this leads me on to my next plans. Got a Cruise gear knob, I wasn't in when DHL came today so, its being delivered again on Monday. Once the above work is completed, its going for a re-map. I've opted for a Unichip, its going to be on the dyno for about six hours and get a really good map set up, with all the extras.
  3. I haven't checked if the block needs re-bored, by the looks of things there isn't much point getting it rebored. I'll just re-hone the bores when doing the rings and spend the money else where. Thanks again for the input guys.
  4. Thanks for the input guys. Ive hear of people using Vitara pistons 75.5mm. I couldn't go forged as that would lower the compression.
  5. As some of you may know, my engine needs to come out again, while I'm doing this, I want to increase the bore size. Question time 1) Has anyone done this before? 2) What is a safe increase in mm? 3) What pistons were used? 4) Any further cooling upgrades required? Thanks in advance
  6. Has this not been for sale for over 2 years now?
  7. You would need to change the block, the 5e has a longer stroke
  8. Cheers for the advice lads, I think I'm going to play it safe and get a FSE one.
  9. anyone used one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-psi-7-Bar-Universal-Adjustable-Fuel-Pressure-Regulator-Kit-FPR-AN6-6-Red-/370749388393?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item565262b669
  10. It shouldn't need to go as far as that my Card Company will have my back. My neighbour is doing a letter to the card company so that will suffice.
  11. When I went up, I asked for the engine to be rebuilt, they told me when engine was finished the rings weren't replaced, as they were 'fine'. They have invoiced me for bearing, valves, springs, shims etc, which I have now found out haven't been replaced. I hope so to James I'm just pi**ed off at the whole situation. He has been repaid with gin lol
  12. Well after a few emails exchanged, with an unsuccessful outcome, I have referred the matter to my Credit Card Company to initiate a charge back. Having been told that the engine received a full rebuild, I've had a mechanic confirm, they used all the old parts during the rebuild. Their excuse 'we did not think you wanted the piston rings replaced'. My invoice totalled £680.00, new bearings etc were included on the invoice however these were not fitted. Absolutely discussed by the lack of professionalism & deceit from a well established company.
  13. 11 or 12 so far, would you like me to stick down?
  14. Sorry to hear mate, hope you get it sorted, or find the person responsible
  15. Thats fine, I'll drop you a text about 10mins before we set off.
  16. No worries mate, We will be leaving Titanic quarter around 11:30 if you can make it.
  17. This is still going ahead this weekend, if anyone else is interested?
  18. I've been speaking with my neighbour who is a mechanic, he's not going to charge me for labour which is excellent, but I will need to replace the rings, head gasket and head bolts. Spoke with the company that built the engine, have to call them back in the morning as I didn't have the invoice to had. So hopefully they will pay for the head gasket etc.
  19. Smiths engineering, they are a well established engine remanufacturer.
  20. The rings weren't replaced, it only on acceleration it burning the oil.
  21. Its the worst feeling ever. You spend a bit extra to future proof it and bam, it needs to be pulled apart again. Going to phone them tomorrow and see what they have to say.
  22. Yeah, I had a mechanic check it out 100% piston rings. The valve stem oil seals were replaced when the engine was rebuilt.
  23. Well I've back on the road 5 days now, done less than 150 miles and my new built engine has shit the piston rings. On the way to work this morning and clouds of blue smoke. I thought I would spent a bit of money to ensue the engine was built correctly. Being new to building engines etc I wasn't sure what exactly was needed, so I told the sales rep and thing else that's needed give me a shout and I will be happy to source it. I assumed everything was a ok as they didn't ring. To add insult to injury I came out of work to find some theiving git though it would be nice to leave me with 8 lug nuts!
  24. The fse one seems like a safe bet. RHD Japan are doing limited edition Sard ones for £80 at the moment, so that's quite tempting.
  25. Yeah, I've been having a good look at them. Seem good value for money, easy to adjust. Have you got a gauge attached to yours?
