Ah so I see. Well I got the ATE SuperBlue which is now discontinued due to it being blue in colour, the Type 200 is the replacement fluid, so maybe their doing like a swap over. Might be worth taking a trip to them asking if they got any or can get hold of it.
-
ATE Type 200, can be bought from Euro's and comes as a litre opposed to 500ml bottles. I got mine for £10 on offer, but don't think it's much more than that anyway.

The principle is there, but it is very DIY, and with cars being at different ride heights, different tyres etc means they would need to be different sized spacers, and without a kinematic diagram like this: It's never going to be accurate, and certainly not a one size fits all approach.
-
You got any links mate? Be interesting to see. Are they JDM branded like Cusco etc?
-
So you saying that there are these parts available for Starlets, but only on Japanese auction sites? Or you refering to other cars that have these parts listed? I never found bump steer to be too much of an issue, not compared to some cars I've driven anyway that constantly require steering input.
-
Do you understand what bump steer is? Do you understand what the roll centre of a chassis is? Bump steer is a relatively easy one, invert the track rod ends (but only when the vehicle is on lowered suspension). You may not realise it, but even something simple like changing the offset of your wheels will affect the roll centre as it will move the tyre contact patch further or towards the centre of the car, therefore changing the roll centre. Same goes for tyre widths. Starlet's have been around a very long time now, I'm sure if these problems were such an issue, some of the big na

I'd just get some stuff from Toyota. If you want some branded oil then go for something like Castrol, Motul, Fuchs. You don't need any LSD specific oil, that stuff is more for the clutch type LSD's to help shut them up if they've not been run in correctly. Plenty to choose from http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90-gear-oil.aspx#Filter=[sort=1*ava=0]&
-
That'll be fine, but you don't need to spend so much. That is more suited to clutch type LSD's.
-
Yeah I've seen OpenTrack, also voted the best trackday organisers in the UK. I'll be making a booking with them shortly to see how they are, can't grumble with what they include. Only downside is they only offer limited number of trackdays per year.
-
I do agree with this, ignition advance > compression ratio.
-
Does the oil light flicker? If so that might well be the oil pressure switch, normally at fault. Secondly, might well be a TPS issue.
-
Could be the carbon canister on the firewall. That's generally what people can smell.
-
My bad haha

Phil has run them before I believe, no issues and will recommend them. Come with a limited lifetime warranty as well, what more can you ask for lol.
-
Don't worry too much about getting the CR the same, if that was the case you'd be more inclined to change the pistons, as changing the headgasket is a crude way of altering the CR. Like Phil has just mentioned, the increase in CR is beneficial anyway, otherwise may as well just run an FTE (in my eyes). Don't go too thick on the gasket as it increases it's chances of blowing. Like I said it's a crude method.

Yeah common problem mate, just try checking the torque settings of the bolts now the engines been run, had some heat cycles etc. You might find they've loosened off a little. I have seen Athena's leak before, couple I've had/done I've left it if it only weeps a little and it's sealed itself up and caused no more bother.
-
You'd be lowering the compression mate. Thinner gasket = higher compression Thicker = lower compression
-
Fair enough dude, I'm probably over-thinking when it comes to the clearances as I'm a perfectionist haha, just use the OEM spec and you'll be grand.
-
What thickness headgasket is it? I've seem before sometimes the larger ones tend to weep a bit on that corner. Not bad numbers you made on the dyno either lad, nice powercurve though, looks good

ECC did a 0.6mm metal gasket, not sure if their still around though. For the Paseo gasket, local Toyota dealer or try Iddy probably be able to get hold of them, same with the bearings. You can get Cometic ones from here: http://www.raceeng.com/p-32509-cometic-head-gasket3e4efte5efe-750mm027-h3364sp2027s.aspx The clearances are stated in the manual, they don't come with the bearings. But when you start building performance motors the OEM clearances don't generally mean much. Depending how much boost, what oil you're using etc. You can run tighter clearances than stated in the manual if us
-
I would say go with the 0.6mm gasket or the Paseo 0.5mm yeah as long as you're not going to run wild cams. Genuine bearings will do, depending on the boost just make sure you run the right oil clearance's, wouldn't want the crank/rods to squash into the bearings

Cars still not done mate Almost there though, very close. Hopefully by end of next week. I'll be up for Abingdon, hoping to get in something towards the end of this month, likely doing Snetterton in Mid September as well.
