Already had a old dude wave a wanker sign at me hahaha
-
Now insured, taxed, on the road running sweet. Needs some handling mods though

Haha cheers Kev! Yeah man al get to the bottom of it, it was running a bit hot before the alternator belt snapped. Got a new belt through today from Idworkz. Thanks James, yeah its as tight as it gets really, havent actually been able to get it to knock yet. Aye theyve came up quite well havent they Lol tell me about it man, had to tell the person buying my celica i cant sell it yet, and had to tell the owner of the GS300 i cant buy it yet fuck sake! Yeah defo Dale, im aiming for a Crail run on the 26th of April.

Just to let you know the sensors are about 13 quid on camskill by the way, im gonna get one for my 85.
-
Using a ebay EWG myself if im honest, just an unbranded one not a fake tial or that. Its only running low boost 0.6bar spring pressure. Im not asking much of it, i think when you start pushing them to a bar and beyond then shit might start getting messy. Been fitted for 18 months, car isnt obviously ran daily, but had it for fault checking runs etc and holds boost great. Although i cant give a proper verdict yet.

Lol lol lol, yeah those GCSE are really hard..... haha, yeah most mechanics are retarded and barely capable of working a ratchet..... :/ Do you much work to your car Phil or just leave it all to mechanics ?

The 85 passed its mot today, although its not out on the road just yet, ive got a few little issues to sort, main one being the alternator belt snapped lol, which is weird because it was brand new... the car is running very hot, due to the waterpump not being able to turn. Also getting code 22, coolant temp sensor. So fair to say there are issues with the cooling system haha. So next up is a new alternator belt, coolant temp sensor, coolant flush, and probably a low temp stat whilst im at it. Also i cant sell my celica now and the GS300 will have to wait. All because of this fuckin starlet h

Does it physically pull the car violently in, or does it just kinda drift in following the camber of the road ?

Forget all that stage nonsense

anyone any info on the soilel l 4wd starlet

Flick the bonnet up and have a look down at the gearbox to see if you can see a transfer box. Or just check the chassis number looking for 85. Even if its just a 82 Si its basically just the same as your Gi. Although this might be a 4speed gearbox. Or it could actually be a carb 4E-F if its not a Si. -
I doubt it, looks like the overall width and profile of the tyre has to be brought down to a minimum. a 205 50 will have a profile in mm of 102.5 and you currently have 205 55 which have a profile in mm of 112.75, so that would only give you about 10mm less height overall, but the width would still be the same.

You'll prob be buying tyres sooner than you want to anyway because the way thata sitting just now the arch will burn through thwm in no time. When i had 16s on my old GT i had 195/45/R16 tyres, even they looked big.

They are a funny shape dude due to the floor in the 85 being different with the propshaft tunnel -
So been a while since i updated this, done a couple of things to the car and bought some parts too. Managed to get a pair of alloys that look slightly the same as my OZ, not identical but im not fussed, sent them away to get powder coated and fired a couple of rainsport 3s on them. Running these up front because, theyre only 6.5J but still having slight scrubbing issues. The OZ are on the back which are 7J. Excuse the white doors lol, will be getting the car wrapped eventually along with the GT trims i have sitting. Probably wrapped something daft like urban camo haha. First time id ha

Yeah haha, ive only got the 3 rears lol. Even if its just a N/a EP82 its still a good starlet to have, 100ps 4EFE engine. -

This is mine before it left Japan. Main give away is obviously the 4wd stickers, but the angle of the exhaust on a 4paw is also different so thats another way to tell without looking underneath it. If you stand far enough back you can see the rear diff and rear anti roll bar on the 85s aswell. -
I converted a lads EP91 for him last year, i did it this way with all the looms from a 98spec V into a 98 N/a. Picked up everything from another lad breaking his V. Was done in an afternoon.

Try another gauge, you might be sending yourself on a wild goose chase

You need various pullers, a vice and a hydraulic press etc. fairly specialist job. Whats exactly wrong with yours and what do you want to replace ? Theres a PDF on google but its not a step by step as such its a service manual for Techs. Might be useful though.

Which is a shame because they are actually pretty decent cars, not all out fantastic (but what car is), just a sweet all rounder, minus the mpg haha. Depends if you care what other people think tbh, just because a car has a bad rep wouldnt and doesnt put me off buying it. I dont buy cars to please other people lol. If the dude in the scoob was laughing at you he was obviously a bell end anyway, regardless of what car he drove. -
With comp results like that it could be that the rings have just worn equally over time, not necessarily 'gone'. Also valves not seating correctly anymore is another likely scenario. If the timing was out on the belt it would run like a bag of shit and id be surprised if it would even make 180bhp lol. Base timing as you know should be 10btdc. Also any underlying faults like missfires, faulty knock, blocked fuel filter, fpr not set up correctly, etc will also cause poor bhp. Personally id make sure every possible thing is bang on first, then go down the rebuild route.

Be interesting to see the leak down test results. 180 on a TD04 @ 1 bar is a bit poor but not that shit considering its un mapped. Rebuild time at 150psi imo, time for a high comp build Mikey.
