  1. No, its all in the map imo, if you have a healthy stock engine with all supporting mods, and you get a decent ecu mapped by someone who knows what they are doing then there is no reason why it shouldnt last a long time if you maintain it correctly.
  2. Its actually a wonder starlets are not extinct at the rate that they were blowing up and getting broken, its not as bad now it seems, but a couple year ago there was a breaking thread once a day because someone blew up their engine fs That being said its easy to do, youre not a true starlet owner until youve blew a 4E into tiny pieces, its all part of the fun
  3. I love looking through these threads on there, retro jap is sooo cool it is sickening haha.
  4. Watched 'John Wick' good film i thought
  5. The old skooool JDM methods always baffle me, there modding methods are mad haha, never seen intercooler pipework like it, the routes are crazy, oh and nice use of the standard efi pipe in the bottom setup lol. Gotta love ZEP for their pure crazyness haha
  6. Personally id get a backbox you like the look of, and then get the rest of the system custom made up, stainless creations just did my 85 using their own box (because a jap one wouldnt fit) But there are loads and loads of systems for starlets, a couple are still available new but most you'll have to find used. Cant remember all them but to name a few. 5zigen do a couple, HKS super dragger & silent ones, RSR, power getter, apexi, blitz etc.
  7. On my setup i dont want them or need them so yeah it is personal preference. Oil is the primary cooler of the turbo, the water lines are there from and for the factory setup of the engine and turbo, mine isnt standard and so i dont see the need for them. By all means run them if ya want, but plenty people dont bother and have no issues. Also i dont have some custom spec 2k turbo so zero fucks given.
  8. If you wanted to run water lines you could get a thermostat housing from a FTE with the water outlet ports and use that. I wouldnt bother, i turbod a FE and just left it.
  9. Yeah man P***LSR one i think ? Was ages ago now.
  10. Yeah i know, i was speaking to a guy who pushes nearly 2bar through a VF22 on his Impreza.
  11. They are cool little cars, youd have to be pretty short to fit in one lol.
  12. Yeah FTE, its also got the thermostat housing with the turbo water lines which N/a engines dont have
  13. As above, preferably in Central Scotland area so i can collect. Not sure on style, post a pic and i'll see. Not looking to spend mega bucks, may consider a set of 4 if thats all thats going. Cheers.
  14. Yeah man he knows his stuff alright. He has imported about 30 4paws over the years
  15. Good good, been tempted to get one ever since Geo told me about them.
  16. What does the oil filter look like ? Has it got the standard re locator on the block is what i mean.
  17. Early type AE86 diff, KAZZ do em, called the DAT1630. Although its a 650 quid gamble haha.
  18. Noooo far from it haha. Had it like 18 months and its barely moved lol.
  19. Depends what you call a budget. If you know where to look or hang about for a while you can pick up really good parts for buttons. Wouldnt go down the toyosport / japspeed kinda route tbh. Others will disagree im sure
