SiCaln
your gonna need a lot of help, the car will be between £3000 and £6000 then add another £3000 for insurance probably, if you can get itwelcome to the site
kaylee
i no, just keepin my fingers crossed! my dads ment to be given me most of it and going on his insurance but with the insurance its not much more than something like a fiesta or a corsa, i had a 1.6 fiesta a while ago but the enginge went on it n that was lyk £2400 for insurance!! might as well get something decent for what il have to pay tho ;)
SiCaln
ok fair enough, but good luck not many people cover the Glanza n their listings and if they do, generally u need to be 19/21 or over to have a turbo
Starletraje
wow... daddy a millionaire? as sicaln said its could and probably is gonna come close to 10kyou may be thinking a bit big considering you haven't seen things from the side of having a licence, going from nothing to forced induction is a recipe for disaster,as annoying as the statistics are, you are incredibley likely to be involved in a crash within a year of passing your testand if your on your dads insurance you really can't use the car too often cause your only deemed to have occasional use of the car.i don't mean to sound like a twat, after all i had ambitions of my first car being a 3l capri...but if you think it is managable good luck and welcome to UKSC
ste91
Welcome to UKSC - I agree with what has been said above though. But there's always the option of a non-turbo Starlet, you can buy Glanza bumpers/lights/bonnet/spoiler, it will look just the same as a Glanza. And anyway, N/A Starlets are easily fast enough for a first car, faster than 95% of other peoples first cars. Glanza_cl
welcome to the club mate, like the others have said insurance is killer even as a named driver i am 20 and it's only just under a grand 2 years no claims and on my own policy, you could build your self a replica really easy and then when insurance isnt so much of an issue plant a 4efte in there and enjoy a turbo. Sparky
Welcome to UKSC Josie ;)Some good advice been given here,It doesnt matter how much money Daddy has got, he wont be able to save you IF you wrapped it round a treeNot trying to be a twat but having a Glanza V for a first car is never a good idea, it doesnt matter what car you have first you WILL bump it whether it be your fault or not I would get a Black SR, nice looking, relatively nippy (will be eating vtr's with a few choice mods ), cheap to insure and cheap to runThats just my 2p obviously Enjoy your stay Lewis
ste91
Oh and just to give you an idea of prices:I picked up a 1998 sportif in amazing condition, two owners from new, both in the same family, service history, 65k on the clock, £750.Insurance for myself on provisional license is £1000. gaz
Welcome, probably will be ridiculously expensive. My first car was an escort cabriolet which fell under insurance group 16!.. but i only paid 1500 a year for a first car that's not bad.
Galliano
welcome Josie..dont go thinking your the youngest with a car ;)its unborn nightspirit jr and me ;)
JAG
Hey girleyId agree with the rest of the guys get an N/A then build up no claims etc with that then get a glanza a couple years down the lineU'd just be rinsing money otherwise and if the unspeakable did happen and u ended up crashin bein new to driving and all u would have just eaten a load more cash which would add the fact your cars dead.... Better off not to have something overly crazy powerful for your first car in my opinionN/A is the way But as with everone else's opinion thats mine, And u can do as u wish

Asad
Welcome.....just get a standard starlet..got mine for £1000 ftsh, 1 owner, cd model with 69k on the clock.......insurance was £1400 after taking my pass plus (£1800 previously) i have my own policy tho. 100% agree that the starlet is better than most peoples first shitboxes..like some1 said with a few carefull mods u`ll be eating other cars
MattyCD
I was planning on getting a Glanza myself but i decided to play safe for at least a year whilst im still 17 and get a 1.3 CD, get myself a nice little NCB and if a Glanza V is still too hard/expensive i'll get a Glanza S. For what its worth, Starlets are probably the best bargain first cars around, very hard to find 50-70k miles on the clock for anything below about £1300
kaylee
yer im just going to get a normal starlet or something for a few years. i was just going to get a crap car, like 100k miles and 3/5dr i wouldnt mind, drive it for a year or something then get a glanza but ive realsied i still will be a newish driver, so insurance will stil be high etc, so im gona get a car and do it up, drive it till im about 20/21 and get a glanza! i always talk to my boyfriend about this and he takes no notice because i always go on and on so its good to get some proper advice off people who have starlets! shelly_star
Welcome to UKSC i found it hard to get an insurance company to cover me on a turbo car as i was under the age of 25 back then. But good luck to you to find someone that will take you onboard. Enjoy your stay
