Zac's White Glanza V - :P

Recommended Posts

Well ive finally started my own thread instead of keeping the updates on Rich's thread, like people have said i think ive made enough changes to the car to make it officially mine lol so im going to take out all the updates on the other thread and put them in here so i can keep all my updates together from when i first bought the car :o

Thanks alot, Zac

Well as you all may know Scutch0 (Rich) has sold his Glanza at the start of the year, and i was the very lucky guy to buy it from him. Rich is a very sound lad and was pleasure doing this deal with him. I have decided to carry on updating this thread so Rich can see that his little V is in good hand.

For a very long time looking on UKSC and TGTT i was always wanted a mint and well looked after V, so i found Rich's V and really that was what i had been looking for, and well, im soo happy with the V i had bought and the condition that it is in is great with minor repairs to the front and shell it will be immaculate, These were the pics on the advertisment:

So on Friday the 8th of January (i think it was) my dad and his mate set off down south to collect my Glanza, i really wanted to go down but was unable to get the day off work, so i just had to wait till the 5 O'clock to come around so i could see my new car. While my dad was down there he phoned me and told me how nice and how good the condition of the car was and he sent me a few pictures while i was sat at my desk wishing i could of been down there collecting her with my dad, these was the pictures i recieved:

So when i had recieved the pictures i was even more excited to get home and see the car in the flesh, When i got home and saw the car on the drive it was exactly what i was looking for and was very very pleased with the car, it has soo much potential and i knew this could turn out to be just how i want it.

The next morning i had to get out on the drive and just give her a good clean as the long motorway drive back had made the car more of a grey colour rather than the white lol. So to start with i stripped out the interior completely to give it a really good clean inside the car, not saying it wasnt clean rich just thought id clean her out as i wasnt insured and wanted to have a play lol

So after the inside of the car was immaculate (Don't have no pics sorry) i started on the outside of the car, gave her 3 washes and a good chamois, wanted to give her a good polish and wax but i ended up loosing light and time :D . As i wanted this car so bad i had to borrow the money off my mum and dad and then pay them back when i had sold my corsa, so i also decided to give the corsa a wash and here are a few pictures of both my cars together:

Well after the big clean i didn't touch the V for a while as i was getting used to the drive of the car and the soo much more power over the little 1.4 corsa lol.

A few weeks later a mate of mine was de wipering his Mk2 Punto on the back and has no use for the wiper and wiper arm, so after seeing Bildo (i think thats his username) had done it to his and i thought it looked really cool and more modern, i decieded to fit the mk2 punto arm and wiper to the glanza, it looks soo much better and neat compared to the large metal one. (sorry no pics of this small mod)

Then another friend with a V was selling his Blitz Supersound B.O.V with all silicone pipes for a bargain price, i didn't really want to buy a B.O.V with such little mods to the car, but for the price it was at, i couldnt say no really :D (again sorry no pics as of yet)

So after doing a bit of driving around to get used to her and the drive of the car, she once again got filthy so again i gave her another good clean and took a few pictures aswell, You can make out the punto rear wiper, and i also added what i think is a cool sticker to the back window.

I then thought id have a look around 'WheelWhores.com' and found a set of wheels ive been looking for for a while now and they guy selling them didn't know what they were so for £200 with good tyres i travelled up to Scotch Corner to collect these.........

100_4775.jpg

100_4770.jpg

Sparco Crimson NS2's :D

All the wheels are in great condition there no marks on them what so ever, although they are not the colour i wanted i thought for the price with the good tyres, i was goin to buy them, So because of the colour i had the tyres taken off and off to the powdercoaters they went.

Recieved the alloys back from the powdercoaters and tbh they are the best i have ever seen, definatley recommend LSN coatings in Castleford, really happy with the alloys and the colour is perfect, now just goin to buy some new wheel nuts as the Rays dont fit because they are too wide for the nut holes on the alloy and then a full brand new set of tyres, think ill be going to the Prada Spec 2's or Uniroyal Rainsport 2's im not sure but hey here are the nice newly plastic coated wheels.

Really happy with the wheels now and can't wait to get them on the car

Sooooo thats it for now, thats as far as ive gone with the two month of owning the Glanza and really happy with the progress so far.

Ill keep everyone updated here in the future.

Thanks alot, Zac

Feb 26 2010, 11:40 AM

On the performance side im looking into goin down the Hybrid route, a tong GT Spec i think, im wanting around 180bhp and should get that quite easly at around .8 to 1bar of boost, and i have at home a nice wepr e/w manifold to go on when i get the turbo, so the roadrunner mani will be up for sale. Once the sparcos are on with the new tryes, next on the list is going to be a few handling mods, rear ARB, coilies (looking at the Meisters) Anti lift kit, rear strut and C pillar strut. Just going to take it easy and enjoy the modding process and watch my car transform into something special.

Feb 27 2010, 01:14 AM

Thanks for the comments lads, Rich id like to thank you also for keeping her in such a great condition and what she is to this day and ye she will be looked after well by myself.

Chris, Ye i was looking for just a little while lol and finally found what i was looking for. Ye and just learning more and more about them and just going to take it easy and enjoy the modding process and just see what happens really.

Idrees, thanks for the comment mate and ye can't wait to get the sparcos on, im sure well be meeting sometime in the future as i might get a few bits off you and hey your only round the corner

Thanks again lads, Zac

Feb 28 2010, 08:56 AM

Cheers lads, Yes im well happy with the sparcos just need to get them on now lol just finished spraying up the centre caps and those will be finished today, Idress, yes ill come to meet ill take a look at the thread now, cheers mate

Mar 2 2010, 04:00 PM

Mar 20 2010, 04:00 PM

Well just a quick update of the progress over the past few weeks, not much but thought id share,

Well first i painted the centre caps for the sparcos, i thought id go for a metallic blue as i thought the red was abit popular for the sparcos. really happy how they came out, hers a few pics of those.

So then i thought that the lights was letting the front end of the car down a little as they were goin a yellow colour and making my lights look really orange, i split the lights useing the oven and cleaned all the inside and out of the headlights and they turned out really great this will save me some money for a while as i know the headlights do cost abit, so heres a few pics of the cleaned lights fitted

I think they also came out really good.

After the lights i thought id get to work heat wrapping the wepr e/w manifold that i had in the garage which i bought for a steal!! I got the faces flatted off and new studs put in from manifold to turbo. New gaskets will be orderd before it goes on aswell, heres the thing ready to go on.

Just need to also get an e/w for that aswell so if anyone has one for sale please p.m me

Next was the tyres, well i decided to go for the Yokohama Prada Spec 2's orderd those on a monday night and the friday morning there was a load bang on the door and 4 brand new tyres sitting there, got those fitted and also got the nuts and the backings for the centre caps from the powder coaters so decided to get them all built up and ready to go on the car

Well i recieved the poorboys wheel sealant through the post and banged 3 coats of the stuff on the wheels, everyone says it smells gorgeous but personally i think the stuff stinks !!!! lol so 3 coats of the wheel sealant and 2 coats of meguires tyre shine and the wheels are all cleaned and shiny ready for the car, the only thing know i have to wait for is the ultralite wheel nunts to arrive, ill be ordering them this week, wheels should be on next weekend, so the final pics before the wheels are on the car

I also removed the rear tints from the car, now i know they where original and i wanted to keep the car as original as possible but they were just gettin too tatty and making the car look bad, so i got them taken out.

Thats all for the time being ill keep updating and putting pics of the car WITH the wheels on next weekend all been well

Sorry for the quality of the pictures as i havent got a decent camera.

Thanks again Zac

Apr 9 2010, 09:18 AM

Ye sparky got the wheels on now, i finally brought myself to spend £65 on wheel lug nuts lmao they came wednesday so banged them on wednesday night, they do look awesome

Also on saturday i went and picked up a re-location filter and orderd a belt from enzo, that arrived saturday so set about taking out the air conditioning, thanks to a guide off here it all went smoothly, i didnt take no pics of this sorry.

So the cars making good progress, not fast progress but some lol, pics of the new wheels and relocation filter will be up tonight

Also the originall enkies will be up for sale including the rays annodised blue nuts, i will say £300 for the wheels and rays nuts, this will include the rims getting a fresh powder coat in white with new Enkie decals, at the buyers choice he/she can choose the tyres at an extra cost of £15 per tyre as he/she may want to buy all new tyres, two of the tyres are in really good nick with plenty or tread but two are on there way out and only have a few hundred miles left in them if that. Pictures of the wheels and tyres will also be up tonight

Thanks alot, Zac

Apr 9 2010, 02:34 PM

Cheers mate, you know anyone that would be interested in the Enkeis, before i send them off to powdercoaters i want to see if people are interested.

Cheers, Zac

Apr 9 2010, 10:40 PM

Sorry mate been out tonight and havn't had time to post up the pictures lol and i got the original sparco wheel nuts but they are for a mazda mx5 and i think the thread is 12x1.25 not 1.5, im not 100% sure but either way ive gone for the annodised blue lug nuts which goes with the blue centre bits i painted, looks very tidy, ull see tomoz when i get the pics up lol

Apr 9 2010, 10:45 PM

Amjad, the wheels will be costing arout £100-£110 powdercoating so will be brand new wheels and the new decals will be around a tenner aswell

I have lots of plans for the V but just concentrating on saving for coilover at the minute and the money from the Enkeis will go towards these aswell, then it will be mainly looking into handling mods for the time being but i really just want a front mount so i can cut out the front bumper and get that painted up as it needs doing anyway lol im not sure whats next really, maybe coilies but im also in need of brakes :/ god it never stops lmao

Apr 11 2010, 02:56 PM

Will be LSN Coatings in Castleford mate, theyve done my sparcos and i havnt seen a better job on any previous wheels ive had

Well i finally got the wheels on as ive already said and now im finally gettin some pics posted up lol

Really pleased with how the wheels came out, its asking for coilovers i know but they will be orderd in the future

Before the wheels came on i also got a relocation filter to the front bumper and i also bought a shorter belt for a/c deletion, so off i went at removing the A/C, with a guid i used of here it all went smoothly and had no problems at all, and i still cant get over how heavy the pump and bracket is just itself. well it all went well and the filter is on, here some pics of the engine bay and the front filter (The engine bay is just calling out to remove the top mount, i know lol)

So ye another small progress update but so happy with it at the moment and very happy with the performance

So as now the sparcos are on the Enkei wheels will be up for sale, heres a few pictures of the wheels and the tyres and how much tread there is left on them, i have also shown the reason why i am getting them refurbed as the paint has become to bubble, crack and flake, they will all be freshly powdercoated in white with new Enkei decals, there is no centre caps as i didnt recieve any with them, anyway heres the pics:

I am also going to throw in the Rays locking wheel lug nuts, they are in good condition and some of them are scratched with someone using tight sockets on the nuts, heres some pics of them also:

Sooo thats everything for the time being, i would like to see if people are interested in the wheels before i go get them powdercoated

The progress is going very well at the moment and im soo happy with her at the moment

Thanks for looking, Cheers Zac

Apr 11 2010, 08:39 PM

Ye defo coilies next, was a debate for coilies or FMIC but think coilies will make the better difference lol

As for the powdercoaters they don't really repair wheels mate, if there small kerbage he might just grind it off but i think he specialises more into the quality of the powdercoating, i personally think its the best ive seen and im very pleased with my sparco's

Apr 14 2010, 11:02 AM

Thanks mate, ye i need the Enkeis to sell so i can get coilies, the car has tanabe shocks and springs on which can aslo go up for sale but then i wont have anyhting for the car to sit on lol

Soooo thats all the post and updates ive put in the other thread but i know have my own.

Thanks again lads, Zac

I think it was arounf 150degree for around a minute mate, there is a thick black tar like glue sealing the lights, this will eventually melt and with alot of force they will come apart, i had to put them in the oven prize the lense a little then put it in the oven again, abit more prizing and i had to do this a few times. When they did come apart i used t-cut to clean up the lenses, i did it about 2-3 times and they have come up alot better, the inside reflective foil was also mucky on mine, DO NOT use the t-cut on this, i have done it a little bit and it has peeled and scratched the foil off. maybe just a damp cloth and a micro fibre to dry them off. To seal the lights back together i but the headlight unit back in the oven for a minute or so at the same temp which melted the tar like glue again, there is a trench in the glue from when the lense was taken off and when the glue was then tacky again i squeezed the lense back into its original seating, once it was in i put it back in the oven for another minute to seal the glue onto the lense, then apply the clips again and there you go, lights that look alot better than they was. I think this is the best way to gettin alot better looking front headlights instead of forking out a fortune on new ones. Hope this helps mate :D

Cheers, Zac

Zac with the headlight restoration, have you had any condensation build up in them since?

No mate no condensation at all buddy, with sealing the glue back to the lense with heating it up again, i think tht did the trick mate :D

Hahaha Ryan, ye im crap at cooking and thought i might melt my lenses, but help from my dad it all went well and Cheers mate, i loved the corsa threw alot of money into that, it wasnt chavvy like most corsa's just was subtle and nice lol but move to bigger and better things so got the glanza :o

**SMALL UPDATE**

Well as i found that the brake discs on the V had small cracks in on the front, i thought it was defo time for all around change and an excuse for an upgrade aswell

So after talking to nick at tunning Developments (Top Guy) we agreed on going for the following brakes:

EBC Grooved & Dimpled Discs

EBC Yellowstuff Front Pads

ADL Blueprint Rear Discs

ADL Blueprint Rear Pads

So woke up to a huge box on the doorstep this morning with EBC Brakes on the front B)

Really happy with the parts and the service from Nick, so got straight into fitting the front EBC discs and pads as soon as i got home from work. Weather unfortunatley stopped me from fitting the rears so thats the job for tomorrow night

Also planning on giving the car a service this weekend so also starting to gather the parts for that this week, hence the K&N Oil Filter in the pictures that also came today.

So here the pictures of tonights work:

Just a quick thanks to Nick at Tunning Developments, great guy and a great service, Thanks again mate

Dean Thanks Alot for that mate :)

Also another little update, Got the back discs and pads fitted and the car stops a hell of alot better so really happy with the brakes now, money well spent in my eyes :harhar: Also the look rather cool behind the sparcos, EBC front discs with the Yellow Stuff Pads:

Also as i did in my old corsa i thought id give it ago on the glanza too, painted the centre console. I was debating what colour would look good, i really liked the blue i used on the centre caps so thought id bring that on the inside too to brighten up the old stlye glanza dash heres a few pics in paint and after a really good flat polish and a few coats of wax to protect :)

The headunit was free off my uncle and its grown on me a little really as im not really into the flip out screen stuff lol anyway heres the pics:

Bought everything from Nick at Tunning Developments mate.

I havnt upgraded the calipers mate but mine already had on braided lines on when i bought it so that was a win :p

If you brake set up is completely standard i think the best bet for you will be the tunning developments fas road package that consists of:

EBC Front Discs (Like Mine)

EBC Yellow Stuff Pads (Like Mine)

Toyota Dot 5.1 Fluid

Hels Braided lines

That would be great for your front and then the same set up on the rears as mine:

ADL Blueprint Discs

ADL Blueprint Pads

I think this set up with everything will come to around £420-450 im guess but just get intouch with Nick hell let you know, plus hes a top lad and really sound and im sure hell sort somthing out for you mate.

Also this set-up hasnt let me down yet, its great. No more brake fade and there just soooo much better all together :D like ive said already, Money Well Spent!!!!!
