james@cjperformance
does the sandwich plate have any attachments with it, threaded bar seals?discs look good too, you will need some jubilee clips for the water temp adaptor.think you need 75-90 fully synthetic oil x2 and friction modifier for the box too. Idrees
Loving what you're doing with this Amjad!
Amjad
Ahhhh man shame you wont make the RR day in this its coming along awsome, I like the gaugesYeah last year was a good day I'm gutted! But I can finally get these parts fitted! loldoes the sandwich plate have any attachments with it, threaded bar seals?discs look good too, you will need some jubilee clips for the water temp adaptor.think you need 75-90 fully synthetic oil x2 and friction modifier for the box too.Yeah it came with the thing sitting in the middle herePicking up the discs today, £65 for machining though I'm off to get the jubilees later (stingy sellers didn't include any ) 75w-90? I'm gonna ring that Dave guy in a bit and pop down there laterLoving what you're doing with this Amjad! Thanks man that means a lot! *Update*I managed to refurb two of the MR2 wheels yesterday, didn't turn out great but that's because the shotblasting left them with a rough surface and I didn't want to sit there for ages sanding bare metal (thought the filler primer would help fill the dimples in the metal!) The second wheel came out a bit better because I DID sand it a little, think I'll spend more time on the last two wheels sanding though! Also my Whiteline ALK cameGoing to pick up my discs later on today, looking forward to Saturday now when the springs, rad, clutch, gauges and possibly ALK will go on
Amjad
Got the discs back with new reducers for the hub all machined and ready to roll!Should look beasty with the calipers on ;)
Amjad
*Update*So big thanks must go to James @ CJ Performance, who kindly gave up his day to help me with the car! I say help, he did most of it while I stood around watching The plan was to get as much as we could get done out of the clutch, brakes, civic rad, oil change, oil sandwich plate/gauges, springs, ALK and upping the boostIn the end we only managed to get the clutch and oil change done, due to various problems we encountered!-Firstly the brakes, after confirming on the phone that the calipers were in "good working order", it turned out one of the dust seals was torn and the pistons were seized -My AC fan electrical wires were torn off somehow, so we couldn't do the rad-Oil sandwich plate fitting fitted the oil filter fine, but would bolt to the engine WTF?! So we couldn't do that or the gaugesAnd by the time we had done the clutch, oil and discovered all that, time to do anything else had run out! Anyhoo, pictures..Off goes the LSD gearboxOut with the old, very worn clutch..Shiny new clutchFew pics of the gauges, these are amazing quality, cannot wait to get them wired up!And for reference, the clutch and oil changed atCar feels SO much better with the new clutch! Shifts beautifully and can actually put the power down properly! It is a bit juddery in first gear being a paddle, but it's getting better I spoke to the breakers that sold me the calipers, I SPECIFICALLY asked whether everything was intact, and they started running their mouths off at me down the phone, but I have sorted it and they will be sent back for a refund! Knobheads!!Today I ordered a new oil sandwich plate, slimline fan, and another set of calipers. And we're hoping to get the rest of the stuff we didn't get to do on Saturday done next week, as well as a transmission fluid/brake fluid change as long as it all goes to plan this time! Also gotta book the tracking for Thursday/Friday next week which will be cutting it super close to Japfest 2!! Let's hope I make it on track this time Amjad
Amjad
*Update*Got my Depo Stepper Peak gauges in and wired up yesterday, just need to connect all the sensors now! I love them! Also got my new slimline fan and a new oil sandwich plate, so we can hopefully finish the rest of the jobs this week!Amjad

Amjad
Thanks guys! The gauges are a good investment as they are really useful, but they also look freaking awesome! Haha*Update*James again kindly helped me fit a lot of the stuff the other day, car is pretty much ready for Japfest! We got started by doing the brakes..Old disc vs New discNew caliper vs Old caliperAnd fitted! They look massive, you can't even get your finger in between the caliper and wheel lolThen onto the new oil sandwich plate I boughtA silly amount of metal had to be grinded off the PAS bracket!Engine bay before Civic rad..FittedEngine bay after Civic radAlso managed to get the rear NA suspension swapped over onto this (didn't have any spring tensioners to fit new springs). The bottom shock bolts on the NA came off nicely, but the ones on the GT were truly seized! I went to a garage to nip these off, and they almost snapped the bolt as the neck of the bolt was stuck in the sleeve of the shock but luckily they managed to remove it. I've used one of the bolts off the NA for now but a new bolt and nut is coming from Toyota on Friday. Finally sitting pretty!I've also got a new rubber oil return hose & oil feed gaskets from Toyota for piece of mindThe brakes so far, still bedding in but already they feel better than the old ones! I cannot wait until they've settled in so I can experience the full potential! It's a shame I couldn't get the Water Temp gauge running before changing the rad, but the Civic rad seems to do it's job. We only had a chance to fill it with water as I left my coolant at home, but temp hovers around 80c, and the fan is bloody powerful so all good there! And now that the back end has been dropped, looks and feels infinitely better! I'm finally confident of this car's abilities around a track lolWe also turned the actuator up two turns, only went to about 0.85ish bar, but the increase from 0.7bar was very noticeable! The woosh dump at high boost is now a high pitched chirp (like Taggy's GT at JF2 last year) and it pulls a lot better. But I will be upping boost a little more Just a few more things to do now before we leave for JF2 on Saturday:- Drain rad & replace fluid with Red coolant- Apply PTFE tape to oil, water sensors- Turn actuator to 1bar- Fit new oil return rubber hose & gaskets- Put in a new headlamp bulb for the one that went pop lol- Finish painting the pink wheels! (As I need the grip from the T1Rs on track)- Paint brake calipers if there's timeLet me know what you guys think Amjad
Sparky
Awsome work bor if you get all that done by JF2 you will have a proper little weapon on your hands

enots
pop to toyota down cardiff for coolant i went there the other week when i did my rad and he said they'd stopped stocking it but he'll check if they had any. managed to get 5 litres for a 5er as it wouldn't scan through on their system no more so he put it through as a litre of the new stuff
Amjad
Awsome work bor if you get all that done by JF2 you will have a proper little weapon on your hands Thanks Lew! I managed to get all of those jobs done bar the painting, running just under a bar..still bored of it lol! I want TD04!! But it does go well as an Astra CDTi found out earlier hehe Awesome work Amjad!!Thanks dude!pop to toyota down cardiff for coolant i went there the other week when i did my rad and he said they'd stopped stocking it but he'll check if they had any. managed to get 5 litres for a 5er as it wouldn't scan through on their system no more so he put it through as a litre of the new stuff ;)Nice one for that! Shame I already bought coolant a few weeks ago I'm down there tomorrow to pick up the shock bolt, I'll ask if they have any Well like I said managed to do all those little jobs. Sensors are no longer leaking, Actuator turned up to about 0.95bar and rad flushed with fresh coolant!Just need to paint the wheels, brakes, bleed the brakes again and fit my Sparco harness! Oh, and give it a wash Roll on Saturday/Sunday

Amjad
wow those brakes look awesome! love the gauges too. Fantastic work Amjad!Cheers Ryan! Good seeing you again on Sunday mate!omfg! drove this today and i feel depressed about the speed of my car haha but spanking a few escorts and ibiza's made me happy again lolbrakes or officially awesome! we re-bled them from back to front today and they felt awesome, but amjad said they were so much better than before so all is wellMehehehe you and Amir both have the bug now lol Nice one again for helping me with the harness & brakes!Well managed to get everything pretty much done for Japfest, and the car ran beautifully! Was up from 11pm Friday to 9pm Sunday lol! Got the wheels from the NA sprayed pink, finish is really good so I'm happy! (Filler reacted with one spoke on one of the wheels but meh, you can't really tell!)Nice (tiring) drive to Nottingham in the morning where I met up with Ryan, his bro & friend, Jade & Taggy and we set off for Donny! Didn't really get to see much of the show as I was fiddling with the car before, in between and after my track sessions lolWent out for the first track session, I was intending to go flat out, and did so for about 2 laps until I lost all power! I got properly scared as the oil pressure dropped (turns out this was just because oil temps were high, around 105 degrees). Instantly I thought of LukEp, where his oil pressure dropped at JF1 and thought my bottom end had gone! Kept driving as slow as possible until I reached the pits, the car wouldn't boost at all, but the off boost power felt normal, so then I figured the turbo has just given up the ghost. Pulled up back at the stand, and it turns out it was just my makeshift BOV bung had popped off Big thanks to Chris & Paul for lending me a bung for my second session! I was a bit paranoid given the scare in the first session, and wanted to take it easy, but as soon as I got out there I thought fcuk it, and went as fast as the car would allow haha! For such a basic setup the car felt awesome!Power- Nippy enough though I do want TD04 power Handling- For such a basic setup I really was impressed, could for the first time feel the LSD working, immense!Tyres- T1Rs did well for a cheap street tyre, but I could really feel the need for a sticker tyre entering and exiting corners!Brakes- Awesome. I gave them hell and they bit well with no fade whatsoever! I think the pads are a little worn now though lol but as £21 for a new set, can't complain I managed to do a MK1 and '04 Subaru, MX5 (I actually lapped him lol), some track Primeras, passed Idrees although he was having problems, kept up with Taggy and Lee_EP82 for a bit too haha. Also kept up with some track Civics for a while but let them pass as I was a bit paranoid about my oil temps! Although they didn't go above 110 degrees, so I carried on flat out after a bit.Overall chuffed with how the car coped with the session, GUTTED I didn't record it though (accidentally turned it off when it was already recording when I entered the track ). I want an oil cooler and stickier tyres now, but that'll have to be next year now as I'm truly skint hahaIf anyone has any pics or videos of my car please PM me! Oh one last thing, Ali_legend sorted me out with tints after JF (thanks bro!) got some legal tints at the front and dark smoke for the back. And got a Starlet Attack windscreen decal and evil hello kitty for the back of Josh (thanks again!) so I'll put up some pics when I get a chance!Amjad
