About time for an update.. it's been an age because I have been rolling around in a shit arse VW Polio but now it's summer it's time to get my arse into gear and my GT back on the road.

Here's a few pics on the work that me and rinseep82 have been doing;

For starters my jam bonnet needed repairing...

Does not look too bad from the pic but there was a huge crack across the skin.

Here you can see rinseep82 has drilled holes through and around the crack in order to ensure the fibre glass resin sealed the crack.

Also removed bonnet pins and fibre glassed the holes that remained. Then gave it a block with some wet and dry:

Now time to add the filler:

Once the filler was set we needed to sand off the excess:

Then to give the filler a smooth finish:

..and then added primer to see any imperfections.

Next update to come soon

Big Update!

Very recently bought Quadcorecraig's EP85 off him:

So now the 4EFTE conversion and satin black re-spray begins...

Made a start with the exterior today removing the MK1 bumper that came on the car to make way for my LiveSports bumper. Realising my bumper bar was a mangled heap, I decided to swap it along with the square light brackets for quadlight brackets off my MK3 GT:

LiveSports bumper test fit:

With little adjustment needed (thanks to Idrees's awesome moulds ) all I needed to do was shave a little off the bumper where it bolts under the arches and drill the holes for the bolts:

Other than that me and The Rinse set to work on my tailgate and rear splitter, rubbing each down, adding a little filler to the tailgate and then primed them both:

Hopefully GT doors will be fitted tomorrow and rails cut off the EP85 seats and fitted to my GT seats :D

Swapped my GT doors on to the '85 today:

Standard '85 doors:

Although my GT doors have electric windows and ofcourse the driver's side motor has packed in (common fault), so I decided to replace them with the manual winders from the EP85:

Motors in GT doors:

Manual mechanism from '85:

But as I found out after a few minutes of getting nowhere, one of the mounts is in a different place on the '85 windows to those of the GT ('85 glass at the back, GT at the front):

Doors sorted:

Also managed to strip, prep and mask the car up ready for primer:

Some rust to be ground off:

Bit of the old filler:

Then mask her up:

I like the diy spraying :) wish i could get 2 gt's in my garage lol build is looking spot on mate

Thanks man, I would have paid a spray shop to do it because they add hardener to the paint but just haven't got the cash and after seeing how rinseep82's came out I knew I would be happy with the results :) I'm just lucky to have the garage..

good lord! your fixing it up a treat.

thanx for sorting this ep and giving her what she deserves. subscribed. :)

The '85 definately deserves fixing up, just a pity it's to the dimise of the '82 but the results will be worth it

awesome man and super speedy work

Cheers dude, I'm racing against the clock as the tax and insurance on my Polo is due at the end of this month so it's the ideal time to get the '85 on the road..

Nice work guys :)

Looking smart

^^Cheers lads^^

Rolled her outside and wet and dried her ready for the first coat of satin

The rear bumper needed loads of prep as it had chips out of it that needed filling and cracked paint...

Second coat of primer on the rear bumper

Satined the LiveSports rear splitter and rear bumper

The side skirts were in a sorry state as well, but nothing fibre glass and plenty of filler couldn't fix

Only when the skirts were bang-on did they get primed and then satined

005-4.jpg

006-3.jpg

Primed the arch trim and fuel filler cap

The front bumper was next

012-2.jpg

016-1.jpg

017-2.jpg

...couldn't wait to assemble it all and see the outcome

024-1.jpg

023-1.jpg

Few problems; the arches had to be Omi-sealed on and clamped over night and the odd accident happened

002-4.jpg

001-4.jpg

007-3.jpg

022-1.jpg

021-1.jpg

As the light wiring loom is different for the '85 to the GT, the quadlights couldn't go in until the engine conversion is done. So ended up with satin quadlight covers and grill on a white GT lol but on the upside I reckon it looks the shiz

021-2.jpg

Now the '85 is fully assembled - what a slag she looks... Enjoy!
