200bhp starlet Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Shit well it shouldn't of gone mate I can't see it being anything else tho before you had that rocker and catch can what was your setup Quote
akyakapotter Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 if the hg has gone it will look all milkey mate. Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 before my race spec cover and catch can i had a hose going to another catch can that was open to atmosphere and PVC valve into inlet Quote
200bhp starlet Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 No sign of anything there I take it or you would of spotted it Quote
ryan lang Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 condensation?hot air and oil going into a cold alley catch can?put your old rocker back on and run standard setup just to make sure its not that Quote
shorty Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Looking at the lines and inlet on the can that looks like hg to me dude. could just be bad luck. What boost you running? What headbolts are on the recipt for fitting? Is a weekends work to fix but idealy get the head skimmed and crack/preasure tested. Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 just did a compression test before im about to start draining her, 150,150,150,160 will let you know what the oils like once drained Quote
shorty Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Tbh mate compression test just shows its not blowing by on a cylinder. could just be a slight lift between an oil/water way. is all it would take tbh Quote
Louis Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 condensation?hot air and oil going into a cold alley catch can?put your old rocker back on and run standard setup just to make sure its not thatTHIS!!!I had a catch can setup on mine and it did exactly the same its just normal as its hot air condensating mixed with oilMy headgasket wasnt gone and neither is yours by the look of the results Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 oil looks fine, bit dark but was planning on servicing it next weekendcould it still be the head gasket? or am i looking at the rocker cover now? Quote
200bhp starlet Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Maybe Try going back to your old setup see if it runs ok mate ?? Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 car drives perfect mate wouldent have known without looking at the catch can! im servicing the car as we speak Quote
shorty Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Street racer has a good point tbf. though i hate to agree with him lol. Quote
daniel_g Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Yeah mate just make sure the catch can setup is spot on before jumping to conclusions. Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 put old rocker cover back on, so PVC valve and breather and all seems fine , no smoke, no water :s Quote
BoGlE Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Would of thought its just condensation mate. if your worried just do a compression test but i cant see it being a h/g. Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 comp test went1 1502 1503 1504 160i think its sorted now apart from the tweet i can here coming from somewhere, calling it a day as I've been on the car since half 9! Quote
micky boy Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Is the tweet not the alternator? mine used to tweet on cold morning's then sort its self out when it was warm lol..Glad its nothing major matey Quote
Josh@TunerLifestyle Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 only started tweeting since i put the new inlet on, all bolts are tight , everything in place, its only on idol it tweets even when warm, i can see it getting annoying lolbut yeh im so glad its not HG!i didnt think it could be as tuning developments give the engine a full rebuild about 3 years ago and the head gasket was only done a year ago by them too, looks like i cant use a race spec rocker cover for my style of driving as i only go a couple of miles the condensation builds up.. probs be for sale soon....
