I sent an email previously as well, I hope u don't mind.

However I got this reply:

Thank you for having contact to us.

We will check the data of engine, the serial number 48508 and will let you know the details early next week.

Would you please wait for a moments?

Best regards,

Noda Yoko

They put liners in the block, first I have heard of that in an E series engine. If you ever have the head or sump off, some photos of the bores would be very interesting.

x2, doesn't say the bores were oval either. Must have been a reason why they done it?

Might be worth emailing back and asking?

Why they put sleeves/liners in.

Dear Bryan,

I would like to reply to your question.

There is no over size piston for the engine 4E FTE. So we had to use standard size piston to rebuild it. As the cylinders were worn off, the block was supplied sleeves/liners.

We KSS adopted the way, hit the sleeves/liners into the cylinders at first, bored and horned next and made them to maker’s specification. Finally we assembled. We remanufactured the condition of the engine as well as that of new one.

Best regards,

Yoko
