TrisK Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Is there any reason why you can use camber shims like the VW boys use on the stub axle?i never looked at the rear suspension set up, or if you can do this. But somebody here will know. They go on like this/>http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=62035 Quote
morgey Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Im sure you can. Pretty sure I've read about someone doing it on here, but id assume its more of a stance thing with vw's? Quote
Amjad Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I'd really like to know if someone has done it on an EP succesfully, my GT is gonna need rear camber to fit the wheels and be low Quote
Starbo Moorley Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I find em a bit pikey tbh, just get some arch exstensions done Quote

Pretty sure I've read about someone doing it on here, but id assume its more of a stance thing with vw's?it is more of a stance thing, but in say amjads case its functional.as a bit of camber with a wider tyre will probably give more contact patchI find em a bit pikey tbh, just get some arch exstensions donethat doesnt fit with some peoples ideas, and if your just trying wheels or whatever then its better than twatting your rear arches with a hammer (Moorely ) Quote
mech5107 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Our stub axle is one piece with the axle, so this is not possible. But, someone could cut the axle, make an adapter and fit the VW stub axle to the mounts for the caliper carier. It can be done for sure. Then you could adjust it as a VW... Quote
TrisK Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 has anyone got good photos of the sub axle and axle.so you could look if an adapter would be possible.maybe it is sometihng RW could make up or something Quote
Amjad Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 ^defo something that would be in demand if done right Quote
Socks Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Id like to do this I think... Would allow me to go a lil lower...But also the backs of starlets have negative camber as standard which needs getting rid of lol Quote
TrisK Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 That would be the beauty of such an adapter though. as you could use the shims to add or remove camber Quote
morgey Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I googled some pictures, it does appear that the stub axle is indeed part of the main beam!Basically if we wanted camber it would mean chopping off the stub axle. Having 4 threaded holes putting in and then a good workable hub fitting to the beam. By no means imposible but a fair amount of work!Something id like to do is try fitting the rear sub frame from say a ae92 corolla and utilise the independent rear suspension setup. Would give much better tuning capabilities handling wise! Quote
Crooks Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Had my disc off there tonight there are four bolts in behind it which u can take the bottom two off and a couple of washers and there to go camber. Will put abit of strain on your abs but am going to take abs out so I will let you's know if it works Quote
turbo Grant Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I think the 4 bolts only hold a plate on for the calliper to bolt on. And when you have drum brakes it holds the back plate for the drum Quote
Crooks Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Should of took a pic but I will hav a look again near sure it moved the whole shaft and all Quote
morgey Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I was under mine the other day, was hoping you could, but 100% positive on mine you cant! Quote
