james@cjperformance Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 very interested. but would like to know what work has been done on airflow etc what testing on improvement it will give. sounds brilliant at that sort of pricing tho! only one real way to test them to be honest, flow tests dont really mean much in way of performance, alot of things factor in from air temp the map etc back to back dynos will need to be done on it to see what difference it makes, no one I know of has actually proven any actual gains from them that I know of so we will see how it performs, all being well we can get cracking with them theN Quote

Amjad Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Always wondered what difference these made on "non crazy" builds Quote
Got.boost Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) How can these be made so cheap and where are they made ?? Edited January 14, 2013 by Got.boost Quote
Ep91Ben Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Yeah same if everything proves to be fine put me down for one Quote
james@cjperformance Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 updated pics on first page Quote
hough39 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I'm down for 1 of these was talking to u on fb mate Quote
RicoW Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 would take one just for the fap factor but it doesn't make any sense on my stock internals and ct9...better to save pennies for a forged build Quote

Also the plenum is too large. and not the correct shape for balanced flow. Flow testing tells you a lot about flow balance. You need to test this with 4 way EGT sensors. How can these be made so cheap and where are they made ?? China. Quote
har-vey Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 looks insane. i want one. ill be a test dummy if you like ;) Quote

They will be tested, can you explain what you mean by too large and the wrong shape? if they are proved to work on higher power applications then they will sell @ jake there is no reason for them to cost the best part of 1k with a throttle body, the simple material costs and time taken to make them doesnt equate to near 1k Quote
Flaminsam Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 James not to put a dampener on the mood but in the third pic next to the runner for number 4 there's a hole cut out? This is a water or coolant gallery on fte heads if im not mistaken? Only the efe heads have this blanked off? On the fte standard manifolds this piece isn't there? Anyone willing to confirm? Quote
Starbuck Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Ull have to have a gasket which blanks this hole. DeanRW may be producing these gaskets. Quote
Socks Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Ull have to have a gasket which blanks this hole. DeanRW may be producing these gaskets. Race-Tech offer there thermal gaskets with and without the water port in... Quote
james@cjperformance Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 we can have them made with or without the cut out but we will clear all that up if/when we get to a group buy stage Quote
Ricky@Race-Tech Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hello, To save you wasting time taking it to a dyno. The plenum volume is too large unless the engine is very high powered. If it is, they would probably use a high end intake. The design looks remarkably similar to our earlier designs. These relied heavily on the internals in order to maintain even flow across the cylinders. We later improved on this design. Our intakes have more than £200 in materials. Then there is R and D labour and machine costs, most of the machine costs are no the inside remember, at £695 they aren't near £1k. There are other more simple flaws, but I can't give everything away in one post. Lew91 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) Would they not take much to modify any way? Is it not just a case of cutting the back off and making it small then welding it back together? Correct me if I'm wrong I have no idea how these are made or what's inside them. james@cjperformance Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 from what ive read and seen tapered runners are better suited for gaining power with forced induction and stacks are better when n/a.once we get one in our hands ill be making one up in cad and running a flow simulation on it to see how it will perform in theory Quote
Lew91 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 An right so no ones going to know what's what until you get to have a look at one. Even if they do need modding its still going to be a good price tho, better then £700 any way. Quote
