Sefton-EP91 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Any ideas? I think it could be engine mounts but want to see if anyone else has experienced this..? Quote
shorty Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Id say you have a knackered engine mount, and more likely the rear gearbox one. Quote
mikey4410 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 yea it sounds like a mounts failed and the metal outer ring that the rubber would sit in is hitting straight to the metal of the bolt its mounted through/on or you have polybushed engine mounts,my car vibrates like mad at certain revs and i love it !! lol Quote
Nanglebadger Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 mine has done this ever since i fitted TRD engine mounts, steering wheel litterally bounces up and down at idle lol. Phil. Quote
monty1991 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 my does the same with poly mounts, although i just turned up the idle a bit an it stops Quote
Liam_D Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Believe its pretty common for Starlets to do this when they have hardcore engine mounts. Not too sure if worn mounts would cause this aswell? Quote
Sefton-EP91 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Just to clarify I don't have poly mounts nor do I have TRD ones. Looks like new engine mounts are needed then. Thanks Quote
Bluebear Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Also depends if your idle is lower than it should be. I know when I was having idling problems, it'd drop down to like 600 at times and that shook the whole car. Quote
Sefton-EP91 Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 No idle is perfect at 800 rpm no bouncing, 1200 cold 800-850 warm gna have a good look tomorrow. Thanks for all the help Quote
Ep'd Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) I have noticed on mine when I put my lights on and stereo this happens at night when my car is using more voltage so I upgraded my battery and terminal clamps using a high amp battery it's stopped shaking on idle and as a whole. Starts and runs better too.Might be the same issue as the standard batteries with the microscopic terminals are completely pants! Edited July 22, 2013 by Ep'd Quote
