Cheers man. Is it better or worse than td04 ?? Im still on stock internals. Hoping to fit it but just dunno if its safe lol. Without a wastegate how would u limit the boost ?? Or is tht wen the hks boost controller helps ??? 1st day on here and frying ppos brains haha

If its a toyosports 1 id imagine that its a piece of shit lol the manifold certainly will be. Mind you on stock internals you will only be able to run low boost so might make the mani last a bit longer.

I wouldnt bother with the hassle tho. If you have no plans on forging youd be best off with CT9/CT9 hybrid running 1-1.2 bar should get you near enough the 200bhp mark with all supporting mods.

A TD04 at about 1 bar should get you about 220-230 but I wouldnt go anymore on stock internals or they wont last long.

I have no idea how the boost would be limited as I would have thought it would be externally gated but theres no where on that mani for a W/G.

Nah ask questions mate thats what this place is for. Just get the Bhoy out your name ;) haha.

You could use it on low boost mate im not sure what these generate but it looks pretty big so ud probs only want to have 0.5 bar until you got all other mods for fuelling and stuff. With a map it would see plenty power and kept at a sensible pressure you could run it without forging. Obviously depending on the health of your engine.

As for the wastegate you would need to take pics of the exhaust side with the decat off so we could see but if its the same as that 1 on the ebay link I think its needs to be externally gated. So I dunno if someone has made that set up and not realised then never ran it or what the script is.

Haha nah am just bammin you up. Where abouts you from?

Knightswood. Glasgow. Is it just a case of drilling the manifold n welding on a wastegate ? Ive bought this so wana use it but myt be best cutting my loss n buy a proper full kit. Anywer in scotland good with glanzas ?????

To be fair that manifold isny really worth the work they are pretty much the worst ones you can get. your not the 1st person to buy 1 though they are famous. Depending on what you spent I would either just invest in a smaller set up for the time being and wait until you can get a decent mani just for that turbo.

Thing is the angle it is at theres a good chance thet downpipe has been custom made for it but then again with that mani whoever made it might just have owned a welder and set about it in his garage lol.

Aye theres a few places that are decent enough but in fairness you'd be best batterin into it yourself taking the turbo off is a doddle. Whats on the car just now? Just standard?

It looks like a ct9 mani, then a t3 flange welded to that then the turbo is bolted to the t3 flange so the turbo should come off if you abuse the 4 nuts holding it on. Itsfor external wastegate use id say and a t3/t4 turbo will see around 300hp+ on the right setup. They pull like fook! If it was me id split the turbo and either sell that with the down pipe as a freebie as it could be moded to work on another mani. Or buy a t3 starlet mani and down pipe from WEPR or Zisco. Nothing wrong with running this at low boost but will be a bit laggy for not a massive reward as much more than .6bar or soo and your stock engine will probably shit itself. Especialy being glanza internals im afraid. But a turbo like this would suit a forge build nicely mate and certianly give some smiles at 1.4 1.6 bar haha

The problem being is that it doesn't seem to be a genuine Garrett/ Precision or any other big branded turbo manufacturer, so its worth is a packet of haribo I'm afraid.

In terms of boost control, it can be regulated by the use of a dump valve/blow off valve to regulate regulate the compressor rpm, this method isn't used very often these days though.

The T3 turbo's are very large and depdning on the trim sizes some are good for upto around the 650bhp mark, this was what Spuddy was running on his GT.

The guy i got it from said it was off a cosworth lol is tht possible ??

I drove to bolton to get it too he had a td04 but i took that because its bigger :)

Yes the standard Escort Cosworth turbo was a T3 for early models, later models used a T25 for faster spool. Both the T3 and T25 are fairly "old school" now, you can get newer GT series turbos that will spool much faster and are generally better.

Unless you are going for big power then you're better off with a TD04. From my experience TD04's spool fast enough and can make good power - 200bhp/standard internals will be fine.

No it's not going to work without a wastegate. Whoever sold it to you clearly never had that on a car. Otherwise you'll be running effectively unlimited boost - goodbye engine.

Either get a turbo with an internal wastegate and actuator setup, or modify the manifold to take an external gate. Tbh the turbo all looks at the wrong angle anyways and as tho the down pipe would be fouling on the block. Personally I'd try and get your money back as in that form its clearly not going to work.
