  2. Should really do the water pump at the sane time really so it's possibly that mate.
  3. Just found that out aswel lads through one if my old school books. Cheers for the explanations earlier though
  4. I get it now lol :-) cheers all. I studied it all st college about 4 years ago and I'm now refreshing memory
  5. So the rotor arm in a carb engine when timing gets advanced moves by the inertia or vacuum? In modern engines its stored on the ecu under a multitude of settings for certain stages the engine reaches right? So after the knock sensor picks up pinging/knock etc how does the rotor in the dizzy move? Cheers for being patient
  6. Well, thanks for that intimation, helped greatly so the kinda inertia movement down the dizzy shaft moves the insides so to speak of the dizzy and then moves it back and forth to advance it?
  7. Hoping you would reply I had a read through that to find the one thus I wanted but couldn't find it. I know how the system works but I just wonder " how " it advances the timing, obviously through ecu but exactly how I know it depends on the crank angle etc, fuel, air and all that jazz, just how it communicates to the ecu to do it and how it changes after
  8. Got a query really guys. When the cars idling obviously the ignition timing is at a certain point at idle for for the spark fires and the timing will advance and make the spark happen earlier, but my question is; how does it do this? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but does ecu communicates to the ignition through the king lead to the dizzy and adjusts the spark. How does it do this? Cause in my mind I see the dizzy on the end of the cam spinning around hitting all the contact points, so how does the ecu adjust the ignition timing? I know it communicates through all other sensors like the air
  9. Weird one. I'd go with Adam and say its gotta be timing.. Unless the camshafts have beeen put back in not lined up :/. Very strange :/
  10. Sounds stupid, but your headgaket is on on correctly ?
  11. Where was hammonds car getting restored mate? Just out of interest
  12. I would have though any cone type filter would do it. Maybe the hks didn't fit as its a mushroom
  13. Below the dizzy is the stat housing..
  14. Got some real camber( negative ) on the daily and I fancied getting out there and making the other side match. Would this be a big issue until I get an alignment or shall I just wait Til the ligament and get them to do it? by the way you can tell me if its a stupid question lol
  15. Ginger girl? If so, yeah that's mine lol. It's not the same as the V, but still fairly good. Yeah mate il defo have to come and see this new beast sometime in Lynn. Bet it shifts yeah?
  16. Whey! Need to see this bad boy! Got shot of the ford then bud? Il need to meet up with you sometime in lynn, or when your next doing a Hunstanton meet.
  17. I had this a while back in my v and ended up scratching my head because I never cured it. I replaced the pcv, cleaned the bov, bled the coolant system, checked all vac lines, checked iacv, Didn't check the tps though. Could check the cable or throttle body? I always thought that on mine I was getting boost spikes though :/
  18. I would have thought it could be one to get either the rear of your car, number plate or to cath people going the other way. Either way though and I know they're there for a reason, they scare the hell outs me
  19. Sound advice from all above. I moved out at 19 and got married at 21 and was very stressful but you plow through good luck though!
