REALLY need some help!! Steering rack related.
morgey replied to Beastmode panda's topic in Lifestyle General
If its a pipe thread i doubt yourll have one laying around im afraid! But worth a try i suppose. Im guessing you havnt got a local pipe place near by? If you can wait a few days I've got to get under my car to fit a new fuel tank, i can remove my fittings and try it along side some taps at work, or take it over the road where they make custom pipes whilst you wait lol But is maybe after the weekend -

Right pipe thread is just awkward that what it is. Heres a link to some brake pipe fittings http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/copper-brake-pipe-fittings/automec-male-fitting-for-brake-pipe Few to choose from 3/8 unf 7/16 unf M10x1 M10x1.25 M12x1 Now looking at the old page with pics its too big to be the m10's but i dont know what sizes 3/8 or 7/16 both should really be around 12mm as 1/2" is 12.7mm but UNF sizes might not mean the size of the thread lol -
Ahh yeah toyota sprint series, no conversions that that chassis was never fitted with Lovely lol If you do snetty again this year ill pop down n watch at a very least

It will be a pipe thread i imagine so doubt it will be metric. And if it is it will be fine so m12x1.5 or 1.25. -
Negative can be done like that yes. But i had an issue with mine starting so ran an earth from an engine earth down my drivers side earthing it out in my drivers foot well and suspension tower then onto the battery. Just gives it a dedicated supply. And positive yeah i used a eye crimp on the old connection and put a small bolt through it then taped it up and taped it into the loom. If you want to make a good job of it, you can get terminal boxes. Skylines use them for jump starting etc as the batteries in the boot of them. They look like a small fuse box, open it up and theres the two termi

Welcome along, enjoy your stay! What starlet have you got Where abouts you from?
-
Yea no worries man, its not going any where, ill grab it out the loft when i can, if i cant find the grommet thing ill take it to work and knock something up that will work just as well. Will grab some better pics aswel then

Haha this just gets better and better, does sprinting cost much to do?
-
Haha u guys. I had no choice, no room for the 2nd run in the crank pulley on my car so was just a case of, "shall we loop it" matt "yeah" "How" Matt, crunch (cuts pipe) "like this" "Meh that'll do" Haha ghetto tuning

With out cutting at least one pipe its not gunna happen. One pipe is pressurised, thats the one that will need cutting the other one just used normal clips so the pipe can just be pulled off of that one and looped over no damage done. You can leave the resivoir in there i you want to leave fluid in the system, instead of going from the bottle to the pump you connect it to the pressurised pipe (would need cutting) and connect it on higher up, you then have an expansion bottle and room for the fluid to move around freely Just to confuse things a bit more

Surely a 95 would be a late gt? Theres a possibility you could have either 31 or 34mm i think. Might be worth visually checking first? You tried the dealers on here Tuning developmets Id-workz Then funky power Fensport Camskills Demond tweaks Im sure theres more places to check aswel
-
If you do find out i might have one of them aswel as im not sure if mine being kinked is causing ay issues lol
-
Yea thats all you do. I couldnt tell ya im afraid, i just cut my hard pipes of flaired them a little and fitted a bit of pipe over with some tightish clips and left it, been fine since lol
-
Ye he does

Thats the same as mine, the silver thing in the back ground has two vacuum lines to the inlet mani.
-
Duno really £15? Delivered. it might need a grommet fitting inside it to fit onto the gearstick, its got the 3 grub screws to nip onto the grommet and if i have a look i might actually find the old grommet it was fitted with lol let me know if your interested and ill pop up in the attic and have a dig around
-
I think i read early gt's are 34mm and very late gt's and ep91's are 31mm but might be worth confirming that first ;)
-
Phones on 1% batt dude lol Im not sure urs is different to my rack, id check with some1 with the same rack as you.
-
Although yours is quite different to mine so maybe check with someone with the same rack? All my rack had was two pipes one to the bottle one to the pump yours has a maze of pipes for some reason :/ lol
-
On my phone atm so no lold ill try later, but yea i would say them two hard metal pipes that come out just need looping.
-
Do you no what size bush you have there 34 or 31mm
-
Mines been like that for 5 years now. I would say use a longer bit of pipe as mines slightly kinked and im not a fan of the steering on my car, not sure if thats anything to do with it or if i need a new rack lol
-
This is all i did, if you can see it, just a random bit of pipe with a couple of clips. Its the loop over the steering gaitor on the drivers side

Just track your daily adjustable coilies, stiffen em up a bit and away you go! Mine was great fun chasing a mate around in his 300hp evo. Only thing you will need is some brakes from something other than a starlet as they turn to toffee after 15mins on track!!

I've got yoko advan AD08's hold up pretty good on track but havnt done a massive time on track with them (about the same as you will at japfest) they're about £30-40 cheaper than r888's and reviews dont seem to put them that far apart. Or you can get the AO48's which are a even more so track based tyre from yoko. But in all honesty for a first time on track and being its only a 20min session, you would be fine with rainsports, prada spec2's or t1r's. And the other thing is dont worry about going massively fast you could have just as much fun on some budget tyres as it takes driver s
