It does vary but your gonna need the right inside neck diameter mate on the filter
-
Yeah adzy is right on this although I think the 90 degree bend on the alloy (whatever metal it is,) is 51mm but 50mm is fine, but if your doing it this way your gonna have to get a filter which is quite small (unless you have a half rad) with the top bit where it slides into, that inside diameter is gonna be 51mm on the filter, so your looking for inside neck diameter 51mm or 52 is fine

Wicked mate and your welcome
-
Thankyou bug mate and for the info on install too :-)
-
It won't mate no it should be now almost back to standard this is a good starting point to do research and slowly build your car back up with more boost, when I had my hks fcd defender on setting 8 my sard fuel pressure regular was showing 2.4 bar on the dial on idle when warmed up (you will have the standard fpr on which is also 2.4 bar) anyway then I had a air/fuel ratio wideband fitted so on full boost (WOT) which means wide open throttle my wideband gauge was showing 16.2 which is way way wayyyy to lean, after putting the hks fcd back to setting 12 on boost my wideband gauge is now showing

Mart people will have there own opinions on what's good and what's not of course the best way to go is aftermarket Ecu and getting it mapped, others can't afford that, at the moment I can't so have to go down the fpr route etc, if set up right the hks fuel cut defender will work fine, but people will say bin them, others say the jam fcd is better than the hks fcd, but all in all raising the boost, will need supporting mods to back it up :-)
-
Oh bug mate you absolute star thankyou so much mate that's a good find, will sort this now ASAP
-
Yes Mart I have other supporting mods on, my car came with a hks fcd, it's currently switch to 12 which is basically turned off, I just think there not good hence why that's coming off and putting a jam one on, after installing a wideband and playing with the hks fcd settings I was actually shocked at the results.
-
I would turn the fcd to 12 mate, so it's basically off, and I bet your can is running lean on setting 8 with no supporting mods.
-
If your that stuck mate maybe take the other bolt on the other side off and go to a nut and bolt shop and ask for the same
-
Hello everyone I do know how to install the jam fcd I'm just wondering what colour the live is where it says connect it to the live wire behind ignition, I presume this will be a case off taking the black steering case off( which sits behind the steering wheel) 2 screws, then looking for a wire to connect the red of the fcd too, this is for an ep82 starlet. Thankyou Pat

That's absolutely fine cory, now you understand how the adjustable actuator works, you don't need to now go ahead and get a standard one, 10psi is just under 0.7 bar I didn't think you had a boost gauge, so if you haven't mate how are you sure it's only 10psi? Also I want you to look at the fcd in the middle there is like a clock thing on it what setting is the fcd on, this is something we need to know
-
He needs the standard one mate not adjustable :-)

Why do people buy these sort of cars, when lets face it there always a work in progress and cost money to void there insurance and insure it as a 1.3 -

THESE CARS ARE CAPABLE OF GETTING 600BHP+ OUT OF THEM CLASSED HAS 1.3 ON LOGBOOK SO CHEAP INSURANCE, After reading that line I wanted to already stab him in the face with a fork. -
Just don't boost it mate I know it's so tempting too but with what you set up is at the moment, you will thank me in the long run, and I'm sure everyone else who sees this will agree too :-)

What I did New cam belt kit Oil pump Water pump Full engine gasket kit New big end and main bearings New Pistons New piston rings New belts, power steering water pump belt Also had turbo refurbish from Liam D on here Rods were all sweet and measured so that was fine as well as cams they were good too. Then machine work on top: Honing the block Head skimmed etc And valves reseated think that's what it is Might of forgotten a few bits this is of the top of my head 👍🏻

Was setting was the fcd on cory by the way

Good stuff ads mate wicked
-
I know you meant well stu mate :-)
-
I said for him to get a standard one as then he can't go wrong his very new to this and has to learn like we all dos once, as just lengthening the rod on the adjustable one will probably turn into how long, then he might do it too long and get no boost etc, so just wacking a standard one on for now would be much easier and you can pick them up on here for like a fiver
-
Good man :-)
-
A lot of money mate would be a good start to be fair, that's running a safe 1 bar, at the moment your well into the danger zone, and who ever sold you the car must of known himself the cars on the verge of blowing up, just do what I said above mate then go from there
-
First thing I would do mate for now is get yourself a standard actuator and put on ASAP then get that fcd off ASAP then get a good boost gauge fitted then go from there
