  1. Exactly my thoughts pal. Alright well this is really helpful. I want to spend the money sorting this car out. Hopefully I can do that
  2. And yeah lol. I was a little gutted to be honest. Could tell straight away when they picked up the phone. And they aren't all that way but I mean this car wasn't even running an air filter and there was no mention of this in the ad. And I sit you not. There was some dirty old pair of boxer briefs in the Boot! No Lie!
  3. Kk. Well there was paste on it when I dismantled it so I assumed that's what needed to go back. And a quick search on here that's what I found other people were doing.
  4. Pakistani people... Oh the existing studs are long gone lmao. Now using stainless steel hex's as is the same with most of my builds lol
  5. Wow, okay that's interesting. So I'll ditch the gasket then. I take it you aren't exactly torquing this up then. Say 10 Nm ought be Enough?
  6. Hhhmmm it's only a 700 Mhz computer. Still puts out HD video though. Apparently it has the processing power of the Original Xbox. I haven't ran any PS1 games but my guess is it would be clunky. Runs Genesis games perfect though. And plays HD footage pretty sweet. Just takes a while to load it lol. I've wired in the Starlets existing arial into the computer so I can use FM
  7. Shorty I know you ain't driving with no papers!
  8. Oh yeah, all that and I don't even know if the damn thing works lmao! Never had a stereo fitted to this car and the system I'm building doesn't use what you'd might call conventional methods lmao!
  9. Mate I had a look at the wiring, honest. And I just ain't prepared to even attempt it. So sorry dude. It's literally a weekends work stripping the WHOLE car out and I just simply haven't got the time. I personally want the wiring gone cause it's weight. But it goes through both doors. Sticky taped to the window motor wiring, through grommetts. I know I'd just end up ruining the cars electrics doing it. Believe me when I say if it were a two minute or even an hours job I'd have it done for you. But it's not. It's tracing through all the wires to 6 speakers all around the car. Through the dash and the doors and the rear quarter panels and I'd end up ripping stuff, damaging the cables and worse. Proper nightmare. If it were easy I'd do it. If I ever track ready the car, sure I'll get rid of it. But until that day it will just remain. Sorry mate.
  10. Congrats Now wait for those messages to come flooding it, as a mod myself on another forum I know how many messages I get, and my forum is nowhere near as big as this haha!
  11. Yeah it does have that Oring round the thermostat but I can't see that actually stopping water through the metal since it doesn't even act as a gasket. I don't have access to a sniffer and can't be bothered to go to a garage. I know that is really lame but the evidence suggests there is something going on. As said I'm expecting that the engine is damaged. The person I bought it from was adamant it wasn't the head gasket and I reckon that is cause he knew it was damaged! And I don't want to stereotype any such person but I've heard this a lot about the kind of person who sold me the car that this was very typical of them to batter cars and flog them on....Not trying to be racist but they're correct. Sorry to adhere to the stereotype but they don't do themselves any justice when you pick the car up and they lie to your face. I said it was head gasket when I went to pick it up. I bought the car with engine damage in mind. It doesn't bother me SO LONG AS IT CAN BE FIXED! And that's often the case. What bothers me is that they lied. And that I payed more than what it was worth. If the engine was solid then I could forgive the price. But the body work is BATTERED. The bumpers cut and the alloys crap. Now thanks to Shaun the alloys or BOOM TING! I've bought an uncut bumper off ebay. So hopefully now sort the engine out and then it would be worth what I payed. And hopefully then some. Have been working on ONE HELL OF A MEAN IN CAR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. Which if any of yous are interested I'll do a separate thread on. You're talking 500 watts RMS of sound (1000 watts total, I know it's not massive but it's quality parts with the sub so small it sits in the spare tyre and yet is still 2X 100 watts rms), with a home made, 7" touch screen, Playstation 1, Sega Genesis, SNES, NES, Gameboy, doom, Duke nukem emulator. You name it it's running it. Homemade sat nav, FM radio. HD movies. YouTube, Netflix. It's not yet finished and I'm still working on it but the actual software is done. And as said if anyone is interested I'll do a little thread on its features. Needless to say it's a lovely car system that works with a ps3 controller so you can play the games without a keyboard.
  12. Done and done!
  13. yeah cheers will bear that in mind. I'm going to start stripping it this weekend. Get some progress made hopefully, and eventually sort it out and have a running motor. Can do loads of maintenance as well whilst I'm at it.
  14. Unfortunately I'd agree on the likelyness lmao. But two seconds have a look. I know some people have said they have the wiring but no amp so it's possible. Could be like me you see. Removed from the car. I don't want to sell it but otherwise it's just going in the loft for ever and a day and probably thrown to the tip.
  15. How likely is it to be the cylinder. Surely the head gasket would be the most likely Scenario? I'll get the head pressure tested. How do you go about cylinder checking. I mean with the engine in the car that's going to be solid. I think it doesn't warrant spending that much time and money when it's probably just going to be the head gasket. If there is anything I should be looking for in the inspection side of things please let me know. Thanks.
  16. Well look cheers. I will finish this thread when I've solved the problem. Then hopefully some else finds it useful.
  17. That's awesome lads. I've been stressing about this leaking for ages. If I'd thought to ask earlier I would have save myself a lot of time. Shame I'm asking this Sunday...and not friday night. Lol. Would have had something to show for today otherwise lol
  18. Will do. What will I be looking for for a good engine on the compression check? Does anyone have any values?
  19. Never! Doesn't look TOO bad from the photos. I'm sure you could get a nice turn around on that. Just rather the car than you though I suppose
  20. Alright dude. PM me
  21. I'll grab some Arp bolts. What are they? I've seen them for sale I just don't understand what they are. Will get the head skimmed. And why Athena Gasket? I don't want to compromise the non-interfacing head? Nice one pal. Very helpful and it's appreciated.
  22. Yeah I've got a new water pump and all the belts. I'm also thinking of performance wise. I.e. would it be worth my time having the head ported and gas flowed or should I leave that until a few years time when I come to forge the engine...if it lasts that long lol
  23. Yeah, well that's that. Whilst the heads off, is there anything worth doing as well? I'll get a compression tester and if they're accessible a sniffer. Anyone got any links?
  24. That's positive Ben mate. If more people suggest this then I'll crack on with the job. The Cam belt wants doing as well as I can't see any history with it. I'm not a mechanic but I've rebuilt two engines before (2 stroke SIMPLE!) and a motorbike from the frame up with custom parts. So I don't shy away from projects (and that is why I bought this car) but I may have a job oppourtunity which will require me to have a working motor. Could use the bike but meh! Does anyone have a link to the 4efe Haynes manually. I hear they share similar features if not parts Naturally I'll want to inspect the bore at this time. I know what I'm looking at with a two stroke engine, but is there anything I want to look for with this if I've got the head off?
