A piggyback ecu is added in with your standard ecu to map it as you cant change anything on the standard toyota ecu's. There are many different variaties Greddy emanage ultimate or emanage blue being the most common. Or you could go for a standalone management system but that will be alot more expensive Gary

High Idle And Air Flow Sensor
ToyotaTech15 replied to BigMan's topic in N/A E-Series Engine Discussions
The sensor thats just been pointed out is the IAT senser ( Intake Air Temperature) it wont affect idle speed, i had mines plugged in but just hanging in the bay not measuring intake air temp and it was fine. The starlets use another sensor for manifold pressure, it site just slightly above the brake master cylinder reservoir, it has one plug and one small hose going the the inlet manifold. As said on the phone earlier mate check vacuum hoses for leaks, any other leaks on the bay anywhere intake or exhaust, and check the majority of sensor wiring like coolant temp etc as that may cause a hi -
Again your very welcome Thanks for the feedback Gary

It's hard to say without having a look at pictures. By the sounds of it and going by the last one I fitted, the White blocks your meaning are connectors and they will plug into your ignition switch wiring. There will also be a spare wire for your handbrake switch and possibly an earth depending on what kind it is Gary

My first piece of advice is if you are unsure about doing it urself get someone who knows what to do to fit it for you. Are you using an ignition loom wiring harness? Or is it just hard wired in? Gary

I just had a glanza in for mot the other day and passed the emissions no bother atol and that had full hks system with decat. Ill double check the name of this book but when we were doing the test we looked up a book that showed to models of starlet, one was a 4efe uk spec and the other a 2ee uk spec to which i pointed out neither of them were the same engine as this glanza. ill double check the book name so you can go back and say to the mot guy, After that they refered to some chart that specified it got a non idle test, ill double check the names etc of these charts and books so you can g

Decat And Sunstrip Will It Be Ok For Mot?
ToyotaTech15 replied to tiptop's topic in MOT & Maintenance
As it's an import the engine from the glanza isn't on the emissions machine so it SHOULD get a non cat test, also if the sunstrip is in the wiper sweep then it will fail as it's not an official document, the only thing aloud in the wiper sweep is in date tax disc and indate parking permit , also as said above you can put on smaller blades to clear the sunstrip and as long as it's clearing the water from the screen it will pass. Gary -
I researched this a bit and my work said that if the vehicles engine is not on the emissions machine it gets a non-cat test or not a fast idle test. As the uk spec starlets were made for the uk Market the 4EFE or 2EE etc will be on the machine, but 4EFTEs weren't made for this Market they are ment to get a idle or non cat test, you can always ask to view the mot as the garage needs to have a viewing area, so if they do it wrong you can say Hope this helps Gary

Thanks for the comments, it wasn't looking it's best at japfest, after a 450 mile drive I wasn't to fused about it being clean, once it's polished up and all cleaned it looks alot smarter. I'm not sure about mods yet I'll see how things go, I'm in no rush to do anything. It's not rapid but by no means is it slow, it's a torquey little car and fun for everyday but no where near an EP! Gary

As some of you may have seen at japfest i had my new yaris with me. I bought it the week of Japfest on the monday and sadly had to say goodbye to the white ep80 as it was getting quite bad body wise, so i traded it into work and got this for a great price. Its the top spec SR with a 1.8 dual vvt-i engine producing 131bhp and around the same torque. Ill get more pictures once its cleaned again. Future plans are maybe a few tasty TRD bits for it, possibly coilovers a panel filter and maybe an exhaust of some sort to free it all up abit. Comments welcome Gary

If you buy dials from a stealer CD model, they have a rev counter and are just plug and play no wire swapping. Easier than splicing into wires if you aren't 100% sure what to do. I made a guide on swapping them in the tutorials section Gary
