  1. havnt decidedyet, ive put a td04 on to run it in lol its a tos up, retry my td0520, it was too laggy on the old engine but with this CR should be more drivable. or vf34/vf22 for less power but wider powerband... really dont know haha
  2. yup i learnt that from the first time i took the came out lol, yea i turned the crank miltiple times by hand first, engine was assembled on a stand and lots of prechecks done, ill take a look at the links hows yours held up or you at a standstill ?? mine is very loud, to the point where it would be embarrassing to drive if this was considered normal lol
  3. yup same flywheel... car is jsut left in the garage now untill i get some more time, not like it been used for 4 years anyway whats a few more days/months haha im going to boroscope down the plug holesto make sure im not gettin piston to valve contact due to my new madish spec, reshim will be needed anyway so going to do that, then ill fire up if all good and see if noise has gone. if not im suspecting it spun a bearing on initial startup but i used plenty of lub on the bearings. closest video i have found is: and this is the spec of the build: 74.5mm bore 75mm headgasket 39cc o
  4. im good dude, yourself? unfortunately i can answer that, it would have to be trial and error i suppose...im presuming i don't make valve to piston contact as it runs ok, but i do have a tapping noise issue at the moment, so im going to borrow a boroscope to make sure. dont want to clog this thread so see my other one i made for info... theoretically i should have a 9.1ish CR with: 74.5mm bore 75mm headgasket 39cc original combustion chamber (but head 1.77mm skim) 87mm rod stroke 5e block decked by 2mm pistons deck clearance is 0 -10cc pistons 0.5mm head g
  5. same as previous engine, still has some life... ACT extreme 4puk
  6. yup £34quid from america + import tax rape seems expensive for what it is, but if no1 offers up by 28th ill just order one
  7. would they let a chaterham 7 with a jap engine in on track? my mates interested
  8. hey bro! yea, somtimes simple is best lol im still lurking about just done a freash hi(sih) CR 5e build but GTs been off teh road for 4/5yearsnow, never had the heart to get rid of the GT, so i just added a single turbo supra and mx5 turbo for track to the collection
  9. thats next on the list once i get the proper tool (dont want to remove cams and belts etc) unfortunatly i didnt take mesurments of the shims on assembly, because it was fine before all i did was new stem seals and lapped the valve(first time i ever done this and i neglected to think that this would affect clearances do to material removed however minor it was) i have just made a list of all the current clearances though so when i remove the shims i can mesure+calculate the right ones is valve noise normal on a rebuild until run in? ive only done 2/3 miles as i didnt want to damag
  10. ive just built a new 5e with -10cc pistons 0.5mm gasket and both head and block have been skimed good news its higher compression ratio without loosing squish. bad news is its now an interference engine should the belt ever snap
  11. hmm gaskets all new and good, the video numbs the sound sumwhat, its more like a metalic tapping/knocking noise, its there at all revs. the sandwich plate to the flywheel is good too, ive experianced that in the past though haha one thing i missed out in the description was if i put a screwdrver to the dizzy and my ear the other end(stethoscope style) i can feel small knocking but maybe this is normal lol? also if i pull each lead out 1 at atime there noise dosn't deteriorate, ruling out bearings
  12. just finished a fresh 5e buid after having my car engineless for abour 4 years and sods law theres a problem :| basically i was looking for a few other opinions on what it could be i suspect valve noise but cant pinpoint this... ive measured the clearances and although there not perfect surly they shouldn't cause this kinda noise?? 0.15mm is inlet shim clearance spec (+.0.03mm) and biggest to smallest is 0.22 and 0.25 0.25 is exhuast spec and biggest to smallest is 0.22 -0.29 so i deffo need a reshim (something i neglected to concider when i lapped the valves) (need to confrim s
  13. anyone got the tools left over from a build they no longer need before i buy new? thanks
  14. Due to a change of plan im selling my 14" black racing rs8 wheel setup, i was going to use these on track but there too nice for my car and cant keep them in the spare bedroom any longer lol spent silly money on getting these refurbed quite awhile ago, with diamond cut lip and all new high tensile stainless nuts/bolts to replace the original black ones. pictures do not do them justice, they look amazing in person. they will come with 90 deg valves and extenders. so ready for tyres. see below i would like £400 for these, (this is close to what diamond cutting alone costs + 50odd quids
  15. get it on a hunter alignment, im intrested to see how its affected toe aswell as camber, but if all is well then nice work!
  16. what time are people booking for track? ill be in my mx5 might come piss everyone off on track lol
  17. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rXIBuvZFHk 13.2 at 107 this was way back in 2007 look at the youtube date when i was like 3rd ish uk person to td04. td04 1.3bar stock internal circa 260bhp i have run low 12is in my 5e but for proof purposed see above ive scince lost interest in drag racing having done some proper circuit days, will have to revisit at some point, starlets been engine less for 18months now:( 2017 is the revival!
  18. opps yea, that was a typo, just interested what to replace my td05 20g with as i want better response, and i used the vf28 (which in my eyes was perfect on a forged 5e) so looking for somthing similar that can run 1.5/6 bar to make 330-350. would you sell the turbo seperarly?
  19. did you get on the dyno with the vf24 atall?
  20. Footage from my 12pm track session, still on bilsteins and eibach springs springs, Michelin ps3 tyres, frame rails rodders pads, deffinatly feel stiffer coilovers will increase cornering speeds quite abit but all good fun sound quality is terible, will be using separate audio from inside the boot next time >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJZGFcqccew&feature=youtu.be
  21. If you don't need the rest after you need take the plug/loom. I'll take the throttle body and tps lol
