  1. Yeh oil pressure drop would have been more noticeable at low rpm.

Was the oil return port on the oil pump blocked with sealant used for the sump seal. I will put up pics of it, I have come across a few 4efte engines that seem to have failed due to this, all have oil pump shaft play (oil pump failure).

One thing I'm being told is these engines don't like things like rev limmiters/launch control and fuel cut. All down to the combustion chamber design/ poor denso injectors design.

This and the head gasket are screaming detonation/ over worked turbo to me, but oil temp and pressure could be a factor to.

That the the oil pump bearing supply port

This is the exit port that I've found to get sealant blocking it bottom picture. Leading to oil pump failures.

  2. Oh dear. Could be the oil grand. Looks like they have over heated.

I did see a build where the lad had used 10w50 grade oil, and recorded a pressure drop, plus notable pressure surges due to the 4e running only a four cam oil pump. A good 10w40 grade oil like mobile one oil should do, along side a oil cooler and thermostate. Just to be safe.

People also reduce the size of the port from the block that feeds the head. This is located on the left hand side/end of the block, it uses one of head bolt holes. The oil flow rate/volume delivery to the head is alot, by doing this it helps maintain the bottom end pressure making the oil pump pressure surges not as noticeable.

This looks very much like detonation damage. Normally produced by over clocking the turbo.

Are you monitoring inlet charge temps in the inlet manifold?.

Running a oil pressure gauge will also alert you to any further problems with the shells. Oil pressure would have droped noticeably by this point. Also rod ends have started to seize up.

    Fuck it  :)

    Haha.

    Yep I hear ya mate.

I have a rev 3 3sge engine here also but it simply will not fit, the block hight/stroke is impresize. I'd have to sit the engine up right giving zero ground clearance. I'm also hoping for slightly better mpg out of the 7age unit.

The people I've spoke with that have done the 7age motor call it the baby 3sge, with the piston stroke only .5mm off.

  4. After some carefull deliberations the plans have altered on this build.

The ball has been set in motion with a 7afe engine purchased off eBay and a MK1 MR2 16v 4age engine coming off a member on this great site. The two combined will make a 1.8ltr 16v 7age engine that in normally asperated mode produces close to 200hp.

The future plans are to make it a 7agze (Supercharge) using a sprintex screw type charger mounted as part of the inlet manifold using high hp Kent cam shaft (race) depending on rpm limmit, on a c164 lsd 6 speed gearbox.

The engine bay will have to be widened to house the engine and box.

The 1.5ltr 5efe in the car at present will eventually go in the ep91 starbo build, after a recon and some internal work.

    7age info:

    http://www.matrixgarage.com/content/getting-most-out-your-7a-ge-hybrid-build

Although on the site/info above they state that there is not much difference between a well build 4age and 7age this is like the 4efte and 5efte hp levels are very close but torque output tells a different tale. Any one that has experienced the 4e and 5e will testify.

Cam shaft info and prices, look under Toyota MR2 4age.

I'm hoping to move on this asap. Going into the starbo next month so as I can pull down the paseo and start fabrication work ready for the body shop.

Any and all advice welcome. The car will need a full new engine control system with digital dash. I'm very excited about this, really enjoying these little Toyota's.

The gearbox will comprise of a c164 out a lotus using a Toyota c series bell housing from a g6r 4afe corrola, some drive shaft cups from a preius, gt turbo thicker drive shafts. Also looking into aftermarket lsd units. The 1.5 way Cusco in the starlet is a bit snappy.

This has come about after reading and watching some truly impressive builds on this site. I'm hoping to make another one off Taylor made toyota to add to this collection.

  5. I can't wait to see what this year brings. , As the news of the virus is starting to slowly get better, or should I say not as bad as everyone first thought.

It's great to start the new year with the club/people and these familiar cars/projects.

I'm watching with interest, and as always here to help.

This year is going to be a big one for me on the cars. Lots more time on my hands.

  6. I had a feeling the old timers that have a big infulance in F1 had it in for Lewis after he did the black lives matter campaign. A very brave and admiral thing to do to not be scared to sacrifice the thing that you love the most for change.

After looking more and more into things it looks like there is some deep routed problems in the older ranks of the sport!!. The out spoken opinion of people like sir Jackie Stewart, burny eccleston and others.

The good news is I know how Lewis will react to this next season.

I've also got my figuresed crossed for Charles leclerc this season he impressed me massively last season with many of his races and overtakes.

  7. Yeh nice info. The hks fcd is adjustable this does a slightly different job not just clamping the upper voltage but able to in multiple stages reduce the map sensor voltage out put so as to not hit the higher voltage fuel cut comes in at.

  8. Happy 2022.

After the past couple of years being nearly lost to work and the covid virus. I'm going to get the 2x builds back on course.

The paseo is going in for a full paint and restore in June at which I will be in the starbo.

    What are your plans?

  9. He will come back better than ever. This is how he reacts, and has done his hole racing life.

Yeh I will be watching with not as much interest, I'm hoping Charles, Carlos, Norris, Richardo, show max how to wheel to race next season. There's been some great mid feild battles with some very enjoyable battles. Max verstappon will do his silly shit show, but this time with very one else?.

Tell you what skinny Indy car is great to watch. Give it a go. I'm hoping Lewis makes a move into Indy car very very soon.
