yea it was good to see Daniel getting a win again :) and well done McLaren

If max hadn't hit the sausage kerb the car wouldn't have bounced onto Lewis, it would have ended up in some sort of tussle tho without that kerb, Max was pulling the swimming pool move at the wrong track lol

Yea the pace they have this season is excellent compared to the rest.

I reckon Lewis would take Max ins fist fight tho, it could happen yet lool

I've just seen this skinny. Sorry about the Late reply.

Yeh max has driven that track. That corner is not a place to attempt that kind of pass. Extremely over ambitious move.

anybody that has ever driven Monza on any of the games knows what's going to happen.

I sat in the stand there in 2018 and that kurb is huge every driver knows to stay away from it.

It's such a shame and it's starting to tarnish reputations of others.

For me he needs to start driving a smart race. Applying pressure and creating openings.

He needs to think Russel is coming next season. Get ready to sit back and force them simple mistakes. That the inexperience make.

I'm almost tempted to mention leclerc for next season I've been extremely impressed with him this season all he needs to do is complete a Monaco GP (his home race).

  2. I must agree this guy has got something others don't have. Figures crossed for him to be given a chance in F1.

No more Rockies just yet please possibly more teams needed for 2023 threw to 2025 and onwards. It's getting painful watching them try to live up to the media hype.

  3. What a drive from bottas. We have not seen him drive like this for awhile now, reminds me of the 2019 bottas on 1 of my favourite tracks. In fact all of the grid had a great race with some extraordinary drives.

A track where setup is everything you can really see which teams understand there car.

Haha don't mention sir Jackie Stewart, of course a great champion but so out of touch with the modern formula 1.

  4. I've been testing fuel temp, the relationship it has with power output from the cylinders = afr? Affecting cylinder temp and exhaust gas temp as well as inlet temps.

12:1 (11.3+:1 with the denso injectors) or 14.7:1. Also using exhaust gas temps to see what happens here with a rich fuel mix. (Over 14.7:1 = lambda 1)

Also fuel pressure looking at exhaust gasses, CO, HC, CO2, O2, NOX  and HO2. As well as looking at the spark plugs to gauge the best fuel pressure to run the denso injectors at = best fuel atomisation (air & fuel mixing).

I've have started this research on my modified 5efe 1.5ltr (1500cc) paseo.

A little video to help explain what's going on. Cooling and why people use a rich afr. Does a rich afr affect exhaust, cylinder and intake charge temps.

  5. Yeh 22 is coolant temp, this could be the reason behind the poor cold start.

42 I think is something to do with the auto ecu/missing the auto gearbox there could be a speed sensor in there somewhere, other than this it could be a feed back from the clocks.

Looks fantastic. Congratulations and in super quick time for a full conversation. With AC. Very impressed.

A quick note make sure all the engine earth's are in and have a good back to battery earth wire/connections. There is the cylinder block/head to earth, the sensor earthing bank found at the rear of the inlet manifold (brown multiple wire to 1x ring contact. The engine bay earth's near the engine bay fuse box behind the left light (white wires to a ring contact). The 4efte ignition ignitor needs to earthed to the bulk head or to its own earthing wire. The ECU earthing wires are found under the dash mounting to the chassis.

There is a great amount of improvement to be gained on the standard 4efte factory setup. Without uping boost pressure. Something for the future to consider.

How are all the local lads liking the convertion. I bet it's a 1 off build over there.

The blue smoke. Does it only start when the engine/exhaust is up to temperature. If so it's the turbo. If it's there on cold start it could be that the valve stem seals have gone hard with age. Also it could be sticking piston rings or an issue with the 1 way crank case to inlet manifold check valve allowing oil threw.

  6. Yeh the JDM have a strict kph limit. I think you will find this to be the problem. With the kph limit cutting the fuel or speed cut as it's known. The blitz and jam and other jap plug and play ECUs will over rule/cancel it out. These normally go for around £250.

I will check your fault codes now. And yeh the rpm will possibly be as simple as a resistor swap.

How does she feel. Congratulations a fantastic build in record time.

    Get some pictures up please.

  7. how are you doing frankie.

i cant see the canister or lack of one causing a problem. i run with out one creating a vacuum/negative pressure in the fuel tank pulls the fuel back into the tank. this puts your fuel pump under increased load.

make sure any engine vacuum lines coming out of the engine are blocked off and the fuel tank vent line in open/has a vent valve like i suggested.

i have just fixed a very similar problem on a ep91 glanza v by installing a new kemso fuel pump.

the issue we had: there was a delay to start up, the vehicle would crank/engine turn over several times before starting. the issue was the original fuel pump was past its best.

the kemso pumps and a good adjustable fuel pressure regulator work well together a nice improvement on factory.

of course always try a test this with a fuel pressure gauge and watch start up fuel system priming time. the kemso literally primes the fuel lines in a second.

  8. we will see my mate. russel has dropped afew clangers this season and last season. i fear when russel and max come together (lots) in the future as both seem to be edger to go wheel to wheel but lack the know how.

bottas is a very good driver, he just didnt secure them early season points to put him at the front of the teams future plans. i fear russel had a big part to play here taking him out at imola, trying out his wheel to wheel skills.

i must say seeing the redbull and merc out of another race is getting abit shitty now. words need to be had. great to see a shoeeeee going down and that big smile back. you could read ricardos mind when they asked him about the incident at turn 2 with max and lewis.

how did max pull back 7sec (the difference between his and lewis pit stop). really very impressive, at the fastest track on the calendar. which should favor the merc.

  9. has the problem just started since the canister was removed.

talk me threw what you did with the pipes to the canister.

the canister should not affect fuel pressure.

the only way it can is if the fuel tank breather pipe (77261 in the diagram) is blocked. you will know if this is happening because you will get a sucking sound when you open the fuel tank filler cap. or you have a leak in your intake manifold. say for instance one of the pipes in the intake manifold that is now not used is open to atmosphere.

im running both the paseo and starlet with the reduced intake piping ( reducing turbulanc, fuel tank vacuum), and charcoal canister removed.

what is the idling rpm when it does fire up?.

  10. I've just seen these now.

I will update this with some answers.

Sorry if the intercooler did not fit. It's always best to measure any spaces you are thinking of using for the intercooler and get one to fit.

To save money you can go to the breakers yard and get some great (large/small) front mount cores to fit in any space as well as piping.

  11. Morning skinny.

Yeh the standard manifold is very restrictive.

I use your graph alot. It's one of the smoothest I've seen on the E11 manifold.

I'm hoping this modification with the exhaust will get the 5e into the 110+hp margin.

I've also ordered a k&n panel filter and drilled out the under side of the standard air box.

  12. over the past few weeks i have been looking at the 4efte/gen 1 4efe power inlets flow characteristics.

it appears that there is quite a big cylinder feeding flow difference with cylinder 3 getting a good chunk of the incoming air, leading to quite a big cylinder power balance difference. cylinder 4 is to close to the throttle with the air almost bypassing it.

i have been designing a 45 deg flanged neck to go onto the manifold, placed in-between the throttle body and manifold around 20cm long. the idea is to ramp the incoming air across the back wall of the manifolds plenum chamber getting more air to cylinders 1&2. by my workings out it will give quite a nice power increase.

bellow you can see the same idea used on these aftermarket power inlets.

looking at the pics you can see the air flow path.

now you can see the problem.

this is something i have been told about from the lad that sold me the starbo. legend of a guy.

  13. its not all about power mods.

infact when we have been testing these  around 200hp to just under gets the best results to aroun,d 110mph. which funny anuff 250hp is the braking limit of most of the standard parts. on the six speed its around 160hp to 200hp hits the same speeds/times. things start to slide backwards in the lowwer mph times over these hp levels (loss of control/traction), and start to improve in the 110mph to 150mph zone.

the large hp jump needed to go over 120mph in any kind of great time is abit much. and its all because of the shape of these cars.

im really liking the smarter builds, built for the roads/speeds. like yours.
